Why a so called historian would use and claim we are a "DEMOCRACY" is proof our education system stinks, the constitution i read and studied in school back in the 60's is clearly a "REPUBLICAN" form of government Comment from : lars zchzsche |

The German prisoners of war were not all that different because both the Americans and the Germans were originally Europeans with the same religion and similar cultures I understand why they were fighting each other, but it was nonetheless a tragedy that they were fighting each other in the first place Both WWI and WWII devastated Europe and now we see the result, an example being the flood of migrants into Europe who have NOTHING in common with European culture Comment from : Coupal1 |

Great documentary brEvery one should watch and hear about thisbrThe reason i say is because brWhen people hear and think about nazi war soldiersbrThey automatically think evilbrBut the truth of the matter is brThat many of them brWasn't evilbrThey served theirbrCountry and thought itbrWas the right thing to dobrAnd some of them didn'tbrWant to serve and didn't agree with the warbrBut they really didn't have a choicebrIf they didn't serve when call uponbr There was a pretty high chance them of being executed Comment from : Barry Guyer |
|
A German pilot flying on the Eastern front, wrote that their greatest fear is being shot down behind Russian lines There was no such worry about being shot down over British or American lines, because if they survived the crash was a good chance they'd be well fed in a comfortable prisoner of war camp in the USbrI have read that German prisoners in Britain were better off than British civilians because the Geneva Convention specified what rations they should receive This was unlike British civilians who had to share whatever was availablebrPeople in the US would be surprised to know that rationing of some foods, particularly beef, continued in Britain until 1953 Comment from : freebeerfordworkers |
