Mate ive done my lawn but ive layed the seed on top of the top soil Is this going to cause me issues? I am trying to keep on top of watering the lawn but feel i need to add a cover layer of soil

My wife and I bought a house in Texas last year with a quarter acre back yard The yard was very dehydrated and lost most of its nutrients due to neglect As a result it had very little grass, mostly weeds We ripped up the weeds, tilled the old dirt and put down fresh topsoil, and just threw down seed today There's plenty of rain on the forecast so I'm excited but nervous at the same time Really hoping all the hard work pays off!

It is possible for grass seed to get too old to use I had some grass seeds still in the bag for a year

Adding a layer of soil on top but not to bury the seed lower than a quarter inch I'm going to drink some liquor now and come back to lay some artificial grass
