This video came out at a perfect time! I've been thinking for the past couple of days how I could improve/get better at character design I knew that referencing real life photos was key, but I didn't really know how to utilize them It just felt like my visual library was lacking I never had thought to use references this way! I did for a little bit design characters as warm ups, and they tend to be the better designed out of the cast Thank you for this video! I'll definitely be using this technique during my next character design session!!!

when you said upcoming netflix movie I thought you were talking about Nimona and got super excited cuz I also worked on that show (as a technical person not an artist) But looking at unicorn academy, yeah those characters and costumes definitely remind me of your art! They used a shader that made everything look really glossy and doll-like which I think fits with your art style pretty well, congrats on your work finally making it to the screen!
