also the angle is important (perhaps you forgot to mention it), 15° degrees is good to force the roots to grow along the glass

Buck OConnor
Hello Mindlapse,brI have tried twice now to duplicate your seed growth and the first time the roots grew behind the dirt so the camera didn't see them  The second time, I reduced the amount of dirt and we can see the root growth a lot better, but not near as good as yours  I will post my results for you to see when the shoots make it out of the dirt  Would you give me permission to use your video in an educational production for PBS?brThanks!brbrBuck
Comment from : Buck OConnor

Buck OConnor
Hello Mindlapse,brMight I use this video to show corn seed starting to grow for a show I have made for PBS?  I am teaching children how a farmer plants corn in episode one (already made-just go to Bucks Big World to see it on youtube), and in episode two I teach the stages of corn growth to children (making now) and in episode 3 I teach the corn harvest and in episode 4 I teach children about taking corn to market and what it is made into  This way children will see the full agricultural cycle of cornbrbrThanks!brbrBuck

I bought a camera and I plan to play around with time lapse How did you set up your soil and seed so the root would grow along the glass? Whenever I have done this it grows back into the soil and I can't see the roots Also I have issues with my light reflecting off the glass and making a big bright spot Can you give me some pointers? Thanks

@kyleisreallycool when watered, a corn seed start germination process, that takes energy from endosperm for the first roots and leaves, as soon as it have your own leaves, they can get energy doing the photosynthesis

A Leona Bistline
@ManofArts well its not the soil that goes in to the plant its the nutriants in the soil that goes in the plants bealave it or not you dont need soil to grow potatoes yes patatoes do normaly grow under ground but thay have grown potatoes without soil just using watter that has the nesessery nutiants in it all the nesesery nutriants are saluble in watter so it is posible for the plant to take in the nutriants
Comment from : A Leona Bistline

Comment from : Nickolas

eyevahn
The 'mold' around the roots could be bacteria Bacteria grows around the roots of many legumes as well as other plants - the roots provide the bacteria with glucose, and in turn the bacteria fixates nitrogen (the prime macronutrient needed for plant life) from the air for the plant It's a mutual relationship in which both parties benefit :-)
Comment from : eyevahn
