This is really hard to watch I understand the wind was terrible, but any source of EFFECTIVE fire attack is nonexistent The aerial placement was terrible to start with It goes down hill from there

First off, these are FOUR story buildings I don't care what BS provision of the IBC they are using, for our purposes, these buildings are 4 floors above grade So we have 4 story FRAME, new construction, probably not sprinklered, and if so, not ever in the attic I was involved fire/code enforcement/design for 40 years, and it's always the same story On the fire side, it's good that everybody has radios now We lost 2 guys in a high rise "back when" because they didn't However, now with the incident command system (some parts of which I think are stupid), everybody seems to have gotten "chatty," and sometimes just won't shut up And yea, get somebody to direct those aerial pipes My 2 cents

For the inadequate equipment available to deal with buildings that are almost designed to burn, the fact that the loss was limited as well as it was speaks volumes for the firefighters themselves Someone on the fireground had to be in charge to get men on the top floor, open the ceilings and cool down that truss lumberyard in the attic The magpies on the radio apparently chattered enough to get enough manpower to make a stop and keep relief to prevent losing men to exhausting from exertion and heat I don't know, but I suspect that there was a second channel directing the interior attack Otherwise, those calling mutual aid would have made fireground communication impossible To what may to some who are critical of the volunteer firefighters here actually witnessed one of the best loss control in this fire scene that I have ever seen,
