You are my go to guy for gardening You mentioned Fish Emulsion before and I have been using it ever since My fig tree and tomatoes are out of the world I just can’t put it on my potted plants because I did that once and wasn’t able to sit on my deck

Last year I started using a combination of Fish and Seaweed, and also Worm Tea on my lawn and flower gardens which I mix together and apply with a batterie-operated sprayer, all from Petra Tools As far as I can tell, they work great This year I've had to mow my lawn every 3 to 5 days and my shrubs and flowers are larger and fuller In fact, I now have earthworms in my lawn which I never had for the first 7 years of owning this property

Both products contains salts To us when we hear the word salt we think of Sodium Chloride which is table salt (miracle gro doesn’t have that) However the word salt to a scientist or a chemist means the compounds of an element, for example let’s take Iron, Iron is a metal but you don’t find a block of iron inside the bag of fertilizer, what’s in the bag of the fertilizer is the salt or the compound of the element Under this definition both organic and synthetic contains salts The only differences between organic and synthetic are that one is immediately available to the plant and the other has to discompose first (which u mentioned in this video) and the second difference is that organic improves soil aggregation (in the ground only) and synthetic doesn’t The reason why it improves soil aggregation in the ground only is because most potting mix or better said soilless mix doesn’t contain sand, silt and clay which are needed for soil aggregation Awesome video by the way I’m also in NC Zone 8a near Fort Bragg Been watching your channel for some time now Huge fan Hope one day we can meet and talk gardening bro

The only problem with Fish Emulsion is the high levels of metals found in it brbrIts better to make your own FAA, Fish Amino Acids Also fermenting your own nutrients Which is way cheaper

I have an extra brandywine plant which I planted late and away from my regular garden As an experiment I combined 1 oz of fish emulsion and 1 oz of neptunes harvest 2-6-4 in a 2 gal watering can and after about 1 week the explosion of foliage combined with some rather sizable blooms blew my mind-- the kicker being this plant just below 1' tall

I've been using the Alaska FF for a few years now It is FANTASTIC stuff But it seems like it takes a while to actually work Maybe it's suppose to IDK But I can put it on my struggling tomatoes or bell peppers and 10 days later they still look like they are struggling Give it a few more days to make it about 2 weeks and they just explode in growth And that smelloh yeah It has a very thick, unique, pungent odor Quite a few times I've opened up the jug on a hot summer day and that smell will smack you right in the face It stays in your nose for a few hours

One tip or warning about fish fertilizer is that there is traces of mercury so be sure to use it sparingly on plants that like to intake the mercury as a protective toxin So like everything in life there is a double edge

I use Alaska brand fertilizer 0-10-10 to feed my flowering and fruiting plants BE CAREFUL It is beyond acidic My waters PH is 67 I added half the recommended amount to one gallon of water 75 ml Directions say use 15ml per gallon The 0-10-10 brought my PH down to 1 Tested with both Hanna PH meter and a chemical test I had to use about 25ml of buffer to bring the Ph back to 65 ALWAYS TEST PH Blueberries would enjoy a 4 ph watering, but you will kill tomatoes

I made 5 gallons of fish amino acid fertilizer for 20 bucks I bought 20 pounds of filleted fish (heads spine and tails)from a fish market Add equal weight brown sugar, mix, and keep in a 5 gallon bucket with tight fitting lid and walk away After 6 months it's completely broken down and after 3 it can be used Strained and stored in bottles it's shelf stable and will last forever Store bought fish emulsion is good but it's not complete like your own homemade cold fermentation process They take something out for another use

During the 70’s-80’s this was all I used to grow , well other plants, plants with buds at the top But I to this day use the fish fertilizer, i have even done a comparison……used only this on a plant and used another brand on the other for one year……its truly the best you can buy……it’s a bit expensive, well worth the money
