Extremely interesting and intriguing discussion! Comment from : Ms Smith |

My guess is you can’t explain consciousness without quantum mechanics brbrSomeone said it’s working like a transmitter rather than a processor Comment from : TLDR Infographics |
Awareness of awareness means to observe awareness within our observable field of perception, but not by stepping aside from yourself since you are yourself and cannot step aside So, to observe awareness without stepping aside from yourself, we must notice awareness appearing within our field of perception, which is our outside environment So, consciousness occurs to the outside environment, not inside the brain Comment from : straightedgerc |
Since we are aware of our environment, our environment necessarily is aware when we are aware of awareness So, consciousness occurs to the outside environment, not inside the brain Comment from : straightedgerc |
Since your consciousness is of the environment of which you are aware, you can continue to watch as your environment evolves to become your awareness of you watching it So, consciousness occurs to the outside environment, not inside the brain Comment from : straightedgerc |
Since consciousness is a function of (dependent on) its stimulus, the stimulus is aware of itself, proving the conscious human mind is not the function of its brain I think, therefore I am delayed Hence, consciousness can be defined as a universal constraint such as “almost a thing” or “not real except as words in our books” Comment from : straightedgerc |
I find these conversations so so interesting Comment from : Harry Molyneux |
"We're half a second behind reality" brbrAt least, visually, our mind perceives objects (based on EEG) from our vision with half a second delay That says nothing about whether we're telling a post-hoc story about reality, just that there's a sensory lag Jim makes the jump that this means we don't make conscious decisions -- we're just aware of previously "decided" actions and our conscious experience is pure illusion, but I don't think the data go that far or even really support that idea Comment from : slicphone |
Anyone know the art piece in the thumbnail? Comment from : David Soderberg |
Photons hit an object and enter your retina, a sensory impulse is sent to the brain, the brain postulates a conjecture that it uses to interpret what it is seeing The fact that this is practically what is happening at a speed that we can't even fathom and is a continuous operating system is mind blowing I just don't see how we can get around this problem; whoever manages to nail down consciousness would perhaps be the greatest mind to have ever existed It would be a mind that runs a software program that understands the coding of its own software It would be a self-explaining explanation Comment from : Rayhan |
@neville goddard kinda Comment from : sizza |
Doesn't the brain have 86billion neurons, because he said 10billion Comment from : Jameel |
For a person that has taken dissociatives I can really relate to this narrative of reality Because they (dissociatives) seem to put a blanket over your senses You're inside your own mind and the theater is dark No light coming in from your senses All that's left is your distorted perception Comment from : Sal Craw |
When robots know they are robots and are aware of all the things they can do but choose to live a spiritual life and connect to God, that is a conscious being Comment from : Sean Smalling |
Thank you Comment from : Furkan Sarıhan |
Yeah, yeah, until you take an arrow to the knee Comment from : Nicko G |

wilderness begins in the mind Comment from : Davis |

That man is like a fountain of knowledge and wisdom He could have been my dad lol Comment from : Socrates_The_Great |
Baseball Comment from : Max Matthews |
People need to have the conversations more We aren’t very far from the beginning of creating “alternative consciousness” It would be unethical to give consciousness and take it away at our will so we really need to map out these areas before we make a haunting mistake Comment from : Chickennuggz |
Man, I really love the titles of the clips Comment from : Adarsh Kunwar |
So basically, to create an artificial consciousness, we have to fake it until we make it Comment from : Daniel Tolson |
Watching this ' I think' you are confusing the 'ego' with 'consciousness' It's the ego that dwells on past, future, labelling thingsbut the consciousness is the state that observes that When you are in a state of consciousnessyou don't experience time, label things if you approach AI, neural nets from an egoistic perspective you'll get egoic AI not conscious ai Try some deep meditation and you'll experience the difference Comment from : A Singh |
Do Ayahuasca and have the same discussion again once it has worn off Comment from : sepo |
Jim Keller’s view on consciousness is very similar to Joscha Bach when he said “we live inside the story the brain tells itself” Comment from : Chris Dorsy |
These deeper questions about consciousness make me more and more curious about what Dreams are, not so much what their purpose is but what are they at the core? Comment from : Dr Scalpers |
If you get somebody like enlightened master to your podcast it would be great I mean they devote their life to explore capabilities of conciseness so they probably know more about it than scientists Comment from : Sancho S |
There are a variety of potential states of consciousness Obtaining access has been explored for more than 10,000 yearsbrbrHaving studied hinduism, buddhism, native american spirituality, and ecology, there are potentials for super conscious structures, such as a grove of trees or a swamp Comment from : Ozark Renew |
