Can you use this just to expand storage? ie non raid

The more gpus you have under one system the more headaches your will have I have various rigs with between 4 and 6 gpus And one ASRock h110 pro btc with all 13 gpus occupied Guess which one gives me the most trouble When you expand to certain level stability and uptime becomes more important because most of us will have other jobs

All my rigs I have like: 6x rx470 on asrock G31m-s boards intel e7300 CPU 4gb ddr 2 running HiveOS from USB and 1200w HP server psu with pico 12v to atx board to power the motherboard from the server psu all my rigs get 176mh ETH with 800w on the wall

If you want more build another rig or buy asrock h110 Btc pro you can have 13gpus and you may try adding 14th to the m2 slot but won't work on windows or if it work you will have Sirius issues Even the asus 19 gpu motherboard can only run 13gpus with the latest bios

Before uploading such a stupid and misleading video search the web so you know what youre talking about, if your mobo has 6 pcie that's all you can have in it if there is m2 you can add additional gpu there if it has second that's another gpu there and that's all you can get

Won't work, there is 1x to 4 cards and they work with most boards depending of your board and CPU because the pcie controller is in the CPU not the chipset, last intel chipset to have the PCIe controller was s775 and you can run up to 6 Gpus on most boards some of them will get just 5

Kev it may be useful reaching out to the acorn guys their nest x2 is special in that it has 4 USB at the top to plug your gpu riser straight into What’s not clear is if you can use it without 2 acorns eg could you use it with 0 or 1 acorns instead

All the Quad M2 cards like the Asrock you've reviewed here, or the Asus or MSI one, all need the motherboards to support Bifurcation (the ability for the x16 slot to become a 4/4/4/4) Unfortunately the only supported boards are the X299 (Intel) or the Threadripper boards They cannot just be plugged into any motherboard and work I'm afraid The Nests on the other hand don't require Bifurcation support and can definitely be used with any motherboard Hence the reason they were designed in the first place

get hp server psu, 25-40 usd on ebay, work great! Also you pcie lanes usually limited by the motherboard, i've found 8-9 gpus max on most board Just get a mining mother board 12 gpus no problem

You can plug 4 GPUs directly into the acorn x2g, if you’re going to run acorns, seems like the way to go There’s also some funkiness with the other x16 m2 quad cards and how they handle “stuff” brbrI get that the minimum at the moment is x1 slots for GPUs however everything is moving to a higher end spec, might as well buy for the future at this point, pouw is coming and needs minimum of x4, I thinkbrbrAs for power, I calculate peak at 90 and try to get as low as I can If you run at 80 and peak to 90 no worries If you run at 80 and peak at 110 psu go boom

keep in mind the acorn product as DSA switch to allow it work with the acorn more efficiently The asrock Quad M2 has been known not to work on all motherboards You will need to check their website The x2g and other acorn product has been design to work with pcie 20 x 8 for the x2g and x16 for the quad Also check the amount of PCIE lanes you have available as it might limit you

The ubit four in one riser board works fine to add more gpus to the z-270a and costs under$30 bucks You can add a 9th on that motherboard with the 2nd m2 slot My 12 GPU 1060 rig uses that board and that splitter and has been great Using the pcie to m2 you have listed for acorns could be a problem if your Mobo doesn't support bifurcation Once you get over 9 cards on a board things hlget hairy though They're reliable to a fault, but getting them all working that first time can be a chore sometimes

The X2G has 2 M2 slots and 4 USB PCIe riser connections on the top of the card, so you can remove 1 GPU from your X16 slot and run 2 acorns and 4 GPUs off of the 1 card, giving you 3 extra GPUs
