With thousands of videos of how to wire up a server psu on a mining rig since this started being popular in 2018 it is amazing to me that there are zero of them showing how anyone decided to mount the unit on the rig so it would be secured Any chance you could show us a mock-up of an actual mounting you tried out? Is there a way to synchronise both power supplies so when turns on /off the other automatically does the same? ( Like you can with two PC psu)brbrI what would happen if the PC PSU stops and the server PSU continues to power the video cards, could that damage anything? Thanks Comment from : @Swifteagle |
Just want to share my recent experience with server PSUs as a warning for anyone considering it I have 3 of these setups from Parrallel Miner with ZSX breakout board One rig had 4 cards and as soon as put a 5th, at boot, the breakout board lit on fire, twice! So that was two breakout boards gone Afterwards, put an ATX to power the the mobo seperatly, added a fifth card and it fried a brand new 3060ti Now powering another new 5th 30060ti card with the ATX psu and its holding but overall the 1200w server PSU seems like it just can't handle more than 4 cards (and these aren't even 3070s or 3080s, definitely gonna stick with ATX going forward, never had fires with those Comment from : @azzblasterlive6710 |

Those are very good power supplies from HP They have 3 distinguishable power supplies, those being the blue, orange and green ones The ones with the blue sticker are rated for 450W, ones with orange label are rated for 750W and the ones with the green label are rated for 1200W These power supplies are very common among a wide range of HP enterprise equipment such as networking equipment (ex: switches) and servers/workstations The 1200W are usually very common among the HP ProLiant DL580 G7 servers (it takes 4 of them!) The other ones are popular in other HP enterprise equipment Comment from : @MrDatacentiCET |
