I just had a thought, i think a bench grinder stand would do fine to hold this at a comfortable working height with clearance for the flywheel $79 Canadian at Princess Auto, and I suspect there's something similar available at Harbor Freight

I have this and my 1951 Singer industrial compound feed If you have really super slick gun lube it really smooths the action on them I use CherryBomb Slide lube on mine along with super high quality machine oil

The way you mounted it, you could never sew anything like a shoe The included stand was so it could be sort of cantilevered out so there was plenty of space to sew large objects

The sewing machine I use which works on pretty thing stuff is a Toyota FSG 325 It's a unique sewing machine as all its parts are metal no plastic parts inside of it just plastic exterior housing

not bad for a hand crank if you dont mind one handed sewing or needing a partner I still prefer the singer treadle sewing machines they do leather a charm are foot powered allowing you 2 hands for the sewing

Well the design looks like a real old one, likely based on a model from long agobrbrThe biggest issue with these and often why they are so cheap is lack of finish and QCbrbrMight be a good idea to take it apart, clean everything, check the threads and bearings Remove any flash Etc

Well this is perfect for me I have an electric sewing machine that really tested my patience The thread regularly got tangled when the needle went to it's lowest point In fact I don't even use it anymore and hand sew things But I sometimes wonder what kind of sewing machine it would take to REALLY drive me insane And here it is lolbrBut all joking aside I do like the way this machine looks It has a very stripped down and functional look
