What do you think of the X1 for the price?! Comment from : @EverythingSmartHome |
Does the remote provide a channel number pad screen that enables going to different channels directly based on their number when using say a DISH or Direct TV receiver ? Comment from : @gtman4588 |
Why put those red, green, yellow, and blue buttons? Who still uses that?brDoes it also support Bluetooth pairing to control Google with Android TV?brAnd a pity that they don't automatically clean up the custom command names They could change them to camel case and remove the special char from the names Comment from : @tiloalo |
All the reviews are terrible for it Comment from : @NaySeld |
That is always the font because they are the "standard" English characters that come with a Mandarin language pack Comment from : @theorgangrinder1743 |
Ive bought this remote - It's garbage Doesn't even come close to the Harmony It works, but it does the bare minimum Comment from : @user-mg4rn5ox9r |
Can you control a windows pc with this? Comment from : @TheSound0fLegends |
What if I want a remote to control Spotify! Comment from : @IQM24 |
The font is reminiscent of generic $2 MP3 players from China Comment from : @Ni5ei |
Reading through the comments of URC installers and programmers they have no clue how easy to Harmony remotes were the pro model was absolutely amazing Comment from : @confirmhandle |
Update? Comment from : @bwanadave76 |
Doesn't integrate with Smartthings, terrible automation workflows Definitely not close to the product Harmony remote was Comment from : @therealalexmullins |
I live in fear that my Harmony will pass away sometime so i am looking for an alternative Since even my coffeemachine has a touchscreen, why is there a brandnew remote without it? Most important for switching channels on tv, there should be buttons to do so quickly Comment from : @Michi_L |
Can this be used to run scenes / automation / etc in Home Assistant? Comment from : @joshnlevinson |
I think they forgot one very important key also, the ability to talk to your remote! Comment from : @wrwazy |
It should just be an infrared box with a Bluetooth connection to a smartphone app Comment from : @monsuur |
Their website doesn't even work, not sure you should trust their remotes Comment from : @WillishBroadbino |
I'm not going to buy this because it lacks the IR blaster I think the company removed the IR blaster and added the hub to increase the overall cost I don't like hubs If they add the IR blaster, remove the hub and decrease the price I'll consider buying it I just emailed the company telling them the same thing Comment from : @SRX2004 |
Excellent review Much appreciated Comment from : @whatdoctor |
No play stop pause forward rewind buttons Out Comment from : @lionelmartin8062 |
Can it do philips hue lighting like harmony home control I need to find a replacement like harmony for my clients Comment from : @dustinvangorkum3948 |
Интересный пульт! Надо ознакомиться поближе Interesting remote! We must read closer Comment from : @deniszavarzin5640 |
No IR blaster with the remote itself is a massive drawback and I really cant understand the reasoning behind this decision The remote is meant to be multipurpose, I have a huge stack of AV equipment and multiple devices and I want to point the remote at each device It will not be possible for the hub to face ALL Devices unless it was on the opposite side of the room on our sofa A real shame Comment from : @barteh |
This remote is crap compared to harmony Comment from : @chucky110 |
I have the harmony elite and I stopped using it about a year ago because the software is unusablebrIt's incredible that something so expensive can be so badbrbrI was thinking of selling it but I don't know if anyone will want it Especially now that it's being discontinued Comment from : @ericmackrodt9441 |
Need the same suite of buttons as the Harmony and other remotes Using the scroll wheel to get to a function takes too much effort and time Comment from : @pjllb |
Finally a replacement Understand why they discontinued it it with everyone using smartphones to control everything I have some customers that still want a physical remote, so this is a good alternative Comment from : @PaulBelkin |
I cant get past the stupid name Comment from : @image969 |
I have their IQ remote and i love it I bought it specifically for the learning capability Moar specifically, my Logitech Z906 surround setup It works with my TV, VCR (yeahi have one of those relics), my LED light strips You name it This Kickstarter seems like a glorified version of the same thing, and honestly, i can't seem to find the justification to the $100 price tag on this so very similar "upgrade" with a secondary hub Especially since there's no internal IR emitter within the remote itself Either way Good concept, but I'll stick with their precious IQ version until it dies Great review! Comment from : @LiquidZero_ |
Does anyone know if the sofa lbaton U1 works with Phillips hue Comment from : @jjjurgensen454 |
It's already challenging to learn how to program a Harmony, this thing bases a TV look-up by adding the inches of the screen, and "xbox" doesnt return an xbox result? The font makes it look cheesy, inconvenient power button, so they're still working out kinks and want $100? You can buy a clean Harmony reman for half that Hard pass Comment from : @wyattspop |
This remote has a long way to go to replace a Logitech With that being said, they just might do it I understand this Co cares about the users so maybe they will listen to their needs For now I'm buying another Logitech while I can still get one Comment from : @kansasgardener5844 |
No way to integrate with HA and no ethernet on the hub? No thanks, they can keep that unless junk Comment from : @phenry5083 |
It's also missing the numbers so entering a number for a channel of the TV or decoder you can't do Comment from : @Jeroen_a |
If it has preproduction software, why are they selling it? My sense is they are in desperate need of money, and selling what they know is a poor functioning unit with hopes that before they go under they’ll be able to figure out how to make the software workable I’ll wait and see A $100 bucks is a good deal for a nice working universal remote, but why pay a $100 bucks to have another remote to grab that has limited use Comment from : @stevescharrer5193 |
Hmmm 🤔 lack of buttons, no touch screen, no browser based configuration We‘ll see Logitech really did a great job with the Harmony remotes Hate it that they discontinued the whole product line 😡 Comment from : @SteffenLiss |
Made in China? Comment from : @emilioincerto |
Can this device do sequences of commands like turning on various devices and changing inputs all from one command? Comment from : @junkimchi |
Typical Chinese font Every cheap Chinese device uses that font, always So this must be a rebrand of a cheap Chinese device Comment from : @xoniq-vr |
screen on it is a hard pass for me Logitech with out a a screen last for months if not more than a year I don't want to charge my remote all the time Comment from : @letsgoOs1002 |
This would be an immediate buy if there was Google, Alexa, home kit, and home assistant support Comment from : @Gr8B8M8L8r |
Close, but no, this is still not as good as our Harmony remote They would have had a winner if they had made the remote send out the IR signals, so you could put the hun in the cabinet with all the hidden equipment Comment from : @pillowpants337 |
for govee i would just use the govee app Comment from : @Stackali |
harmony wasn't even that good loads of issues i've had two and both had issues with connection Comment from : @Stackali |
So disappointed in Logitech Comment from : @steveleeart |
This looks decent but it's hard to replace the harmony remotes They were really nice Comment from : @metric152 |
Looks like this has potential Hope they listen to you about improvements to be made, cause sure sounds like there's some to be done Too late to move the back/power buttons around? Wonder if this can be used with CEC, which Harmony can't Comment from : @onlyzach1 |
Thanks for the review I work with a lot of elderly who Insist on having a universal remote to control 9 devices when us modern ppl just use apps & the tv controller so it's nice having this information on hand when the subject comes up Great Job covering it I did my own research & your gripes & points were very well portrayed Comment from : @ElitWolf01 |
That font screams "Designed in China" Comment from : @loiphin |
Find my remote is a nice touch but a remote that only lasts 2 months on battery is a joke Just another thing to remember to plug in (or eats batteries, not clear in video) My harmony lasts over a year of daily use on a $1 battery Comment from : @joker927 |
I have definitely stopped using certain remotes because the back button was not reachable it is very annoying Comment from : @VSMOKE1 |
wireless charging??! Comment from : @T3A0000 |
Since my Harmony was dying I switched to an IR Blaster connected to my Homeassistant server running on a Raspberry pi Like this I can use the phone or any zigbee controller to start scenes More complicated for setup maybe but now full control of everything including the blinds ec Comment from : @pb78pb |
The price, at least for me, is not a deal breaker but what is very convenient is a physical on/off button I get it that it has four untagged buttons you could use for the remap But those four color buttons already have functions on many remotes I own My receiver and Smart TV all use those four colored buttons for specific functions or services Comment from : @wm437 |
can i integrate this Remote in the Bluetoothoptions of my Nvidia Shield 2017 to control this and use parallel the IR for the TV , i´have not CEC Comment from : @coolzero8933 |
Does it nave something like the Harmony Hub? And it has only a few buttons, so it is difficult to control many devices with only one push What about Google Home, Alexa? Comment from : @liviuzaharia9826 |
Love the look of this, the hardware looks great for the price and features are reasonable too Like you say it definitely needs some polish on the interface, I'd definitely like to see a nice sans-serif font and ideally theming support or an icon-based menu option as well making better use of the colour screen Also like you say, it would seriously benefit from some integration ability with other automation systems like Google Assistant or HomeAssistant Can't wait to see what the final product will be like and hopefully these points can be ironed out with a firmware upgrade down the line Comment from : @rfitzgerald2004 |
What!? Ppl still use universal remotes? I thought they died of years ago, when HDMI CEC became mainstream Comment from : @TiBliRoN |
I have the sofabaton u1 One of my devices wasn't in their database, so I sent their support an email and within 48hrs they had added my device It was also the only remote I could find that would replicate my Emotive pre-amp All in all very satisfied and for what the remote cost even more so Comment from : @fredoswego |
We need a remote than can do RF like Harmony did Comment from : @tommeggison1466 |
Oh crap I did not know Logitech was discontinuing the line I've had three over the years and they were always unbeatable My current one (a "one") is a key component of my AV setup, which includes 17 retro consoles going though various switches, converters and even a couple of devices I designed myself All easily controlled from by heavily configured One The thought of buying a spare one to keep crossed my mind but never actually pulled the trigger Now its too late I guess Hope the one I have lasts me a long timebrbrI can see how this is not popular anymore Hopefully there will be a worthy successor, this one seems to have to few physical buttons for my taste Comment from : @itwsntme |
I'd have more faith in a company making an IR remote if they actually knew it was called Infrared and not Infrand like on their Kickstarer Comment from : @JohnVanderbeck |
They just need to use a better font, and make sure the IR on the hub is omni directional Comment from : @VeerMaharaj |
Font is standard China english font Its on everything Comment from : @ellpo |
I have been using and am still using Harmony 610 and 620 remotes Do everything perfectly However, now the older Harmony software is no longer working, so I cannot reprogram the remotes anymore I really do not see this X1 and a replacement to the older Harmony remores Comment from : @donvedio |
So no activities as Harmony does? That's a pass for me I have TV, receiver and a set top box I want to have activities to control channels from the set top box and volume from the receiver Comment from : @jarnokylander490 |
Pass My elite is going strong and I’ve got a brand new one in the box in case it ever goes out Comment from : @Cerus98 |
I've always liked my Harmony remotes and always hated with white hot intensity their stupid web based remote server only interfaces for configuring them I wonder when their servers will stop working rendering my harmony remotes impossible to modify I don't suppose they'd consider releasing the protocols so I could run my own server? I hope the sofabaton works locally on the app, and doesn't absolutely require access to their web servers unless you are trying to download codes Comment from : @tomhorsley6566 |
I've been looking for something to replace my 1st-gen Fire TV Cube, as it's often unresponsive because of how bloated its more recent updates have been I also hate how chatty Alexa is, and other digital assistants tend to be far more obnoxious in that respect I may check out the Sofabaton U1 that's already available, though I think any of these things will just be overkill I just want a remote to switch inputs and adjust volume with, ideally inexpensive enough that I could buy a few of them to mount in various areas of my house I hate using a smartphone for something so simple, especially since unlocking my phone and locating an app isn't as convenient as just pressing a button on a nearby remote Comment from : @kubev |
I'm dreading the day my Harmony remote stops working, hopefully this will be a drop in replacement Comment from : @Zerbey |
When he calls this contraption a Universal Remote, don't assume it is a URC-Universal Remote Control URC makes a far superior controller than this junk Reach out to an AV specialist Comment from : @shaster4023 |
This looks like it does nothing different or improve on anything my Logitech from 2010 does Crazy Comment from : @varunaX |
No IR blaster so no use to anyone with a media cupboard remote from the viewing room/area You review seems to show different rooms on the screen but you'd need 1 hub per room There does not seem to be an activity menu so if you change channel with one device but volume with another it would be a complicated process Not even close to a harmony remote Comment from : @descb600f |
That font screams "made in china" LOL Comment from : @tektech440 |
Lack of physical number buttons is a problem for me I'm a DirecTV user and with hundreds of channels, the ability to effortlessly enter 206 to go to ESPN is very important Comment from : @seismojones |
Harmony Elite rules Comment from : @aeroengguy448 |
A universal remote? This changes everything Comment from : @mallind12 |
The SofaBaton U1 is available on Amazon, and has been around for a year or two now Comment from : @I_am_Allan |
After more than a decade of dedicated use Harmony remotes (and pretty much having used all of them at one point or another ending with the Harmony Elite), I switched to my streaming device to a Firestick and with it the very simple but elegant Firestick remote, and really couldn't be happier Remotes don't need to be complex all in one solutions Comment from : @loric7618 |
Should have had IR blaster built in and color display to control the color of smart lights toobrbrlike SevenHugs SmartRemote Xbrbrneed some reliable remote like that, cause that is what you call an actual universal remote for smart home rest all these remotes are useless as if you are using a Xiaomi phone, it comes with bluetooth and ir blaster remote app in built and makes all these remotes just uselessbrbrso really need something like SevenHug's Remote Comment from : @MarcSpctr |
The layout and hard buttons are the first thing I look at This remote is terrible Comment from : @dennisl7613 |
Browsed some comments, didn't find am answer: does it lags like Logotech Harmony does? With latter there is a clear <50ms lag between button press and the response, no doubt about it, it's just there Plus, Harmony is cloud-based, no configuration or sync can be done without internet connection, how does X1 mitigate that? Comment from : @tfdsu |
Currently using a Harmony hub, and love the battery life of the remote as it's counted in years, not days Also, the lack of number keys on the X1 is a disadvantage for my use To replace the Harmony I'd like the U1 remote but with hub connectionbrWell, ideally I'd like a replacement for my old Philips Pronto remote which I have in the basement cinema setup - it's not end-user friendly to program, but it can't be beat for flexibility Comment from : @koma-k |
I had really high hopes of the Sofabaton I have one (not the X1) and the response on it is too slow Pressing a button you wait for it to wake up Pressing a button and sometimes it just doesn't do anything Comment from : @thoalex1 |
Thought it could be great right up until I saw that font on the remote That font scrams JUNK Comment from : @pingywon |
I dont know why logitech pull off the switch for that sub brand it was unique, powefull and no one in market like Harmony shame Logi Shame!! Comment from : @albertomorales9628 |
ohh, backlighting! i have the older sofa baton and it had a lot going for it but i watch tv in a dark room and it didnt have backlit buttons so was just a pain a lot of potential though may have to try this thing out Comment from : @turdferguson7686 |
