36ghz is a pretty relaxed overclock for the i7 920 My i7 920 C0 hit 42ghz with very little effort, and my D0 stepping i7 920 hit 46ghz with much more headache I eventually replaced the i7 with an x5650 - which, being a server chip, is binned much higher and was able to hit 46ghz with very little effort

Is it me or a modern entry-level CPU that performs not that much better than a high-end, but still consumer grade, CPU isn't that impressive? Quite the opposite it's pretty pathetic from a performance standpoint, and considering the price it's even worse

Makes no sense getting the g7400 when i3 10100 costs the same and is more powerful and yet you can get motherboard cheaper

I had an i7-970, those 2 extra cores helped that thing age a lot better than the 4 core variants and I used that thing until I got a Ryzen 7 3700X Of course the fat 42 GHz overclock helped as well

I just built a PC from spare parts to replace one of my parents computers and i used an i5-4670K and an old GTX780Ti and i was really surprised at how good it was considering the CPU and GPU were both from 2013
