Any suggestions regarding skylights?

@truthbetold3931
As more and more people try or do this, it will force the power companies to just keep raising the cost per KW hr, they are not in business to lose money, and most power companies have lots of employees, vehicles and equipment to pay for each month

@angielovesusa
What about using 40watt light bulbs in 100watt fixtures?
Comment from : @angielovesusa

@adrianwaygood7156
It's 'watt hours' (actually, kilowatt hours), NOT 'watts'

WiFi led bulbs have a trick 8w for 800 lumens 2w for 400 lumens So run led wifi bulbs at half brightness and they are way more efficient

@rayberger2694
Your first chart at 2 minutes on the video needs to be changed from watts to kilowatts, because the way it is now makes no sense
Comment from : @rayberger2694

@user-ns9rv5mr2d
The chart should be Kilowatts a month not watts 1000x more

@carladavis2587
Well, I finally purchased my kilowatt volt meter and I also purchased two plug-in timers for my refrigerator I have two refrigerators I also checked with my electric company to see if they offer non-peak hours and they did so I signed up and I am on a plan that allows for me to have certain hours that are non-peak hours And I’ve also program those refrigerator timers to turn off during those peak hours Each timer should pay for itself within a year So I’m really happy about my purchases and I’m very happy with my new electric bill and I just want to thank you for all these tips who knew that you know You could time your refrigerator L O L

@Scottar50
I’m all for conservation of power but not when it impacts people living conditions and results in energy poverty that people are experiencing in the EU countries, especially Germany and the UK Renewable power is expensive when unsubsidized and governments are going bankrupted as a result br brThe governments are cutting reliable FF and nuclear power for unreliable, so called, renewable power in the claim it will result in lower CO2 emissions ergo saving the climate from global heating and extreme storminess People are being forced to buy EVs which puts an added load on the grid And updating the grid for renewables will cost trillions br brSo what do you expect? This heat wave is not unprecedented and occurred in the 1930s Extreme weather events are not unprecedented either br brThat being said this video offers some good suggestions but not everyone can afford some of them, considering the state of the economy currently People are maxed out on their credit and can hardly hardly afford decent housing I for one can’t afford decent air conditioning Many people can’t afford solar nor EVs and solar panels don’t last forever and are subject to weather events like heat stresses and events like hail There are also environmental hazards with Solar PV like cadmium leakage And when solar panels wear out they usually end up in land fills brbrSo government renewable mandates with subsidies are the major problem

@jc10907Sealy
When I rebuilt my home after a fire, I created a floor plan with windows that could pass air through from front to back and added a full screen garage door that adds to whole house ventilation This hot central Indiana summer I’ve only turned on the central A/C 3 days so far My house remains comfortable with a constant pass through breeze That helps my electric bill stay low

Hi there, Jeff from New Zealand here, we have noticed a massive increase in power costs here too Do you have any information of the costs on hot water heaters? I have an electric water heater and it uses controlled heating ie off peak I'm sure this is my personal biggest drain of kwH

My electric bill is now ZERO now that I switched to solar The biggest benefit is that I don't have to skimp on my electricity usage and no longer suffer from power outages since I also got a battery With the federal tax credit, my ROI is less than 5 years and I will be making at least $80,000 over the lifetime of the solar panels I'm no longer hostage to our utility company and their rate hikes Your usage was similar to mine

@trevino37
I use many of the tips you have mentioned Last Year March we used 578 KWH for the month, This year we decreased it to 492 KWH for the month while having one extra adult in the house For the past few years, we have decreased the energy usage each month compared to the previous month brbrThe only problem now is, we installed mini splits to heat the home to replacing the electric floor boards That was a great replacement for the bedrooms because I do not see the electric usage at all on my monthly bill or should say, the energy usage is so small, I cant see the difference while keeping the mini split on 24 hours The electric floor board usage was ridiculously high However, the mini split for the first floor seem to increase my monthly usage so still figuring out how to best use it while keeping energy usage down The difference? normal day electric usage is between 13-17KWH a day When the first floor mini split is on for heating (18k), my day electric usage would be in the 20-26 KWH usage Right now, we just use the wood stove to heat the first floor and turn on the mini split to keep the temp at 70 That strategy has worked better Never use the mini spit to heat from a low temp because it will increase your usage Mini splits are energy savers in maintaining a set temperature So wood stove and mini split are a good combinationbrbrHowever, the best and primary best energy saving tip is optimizing on home insulation, which you did not mentioned New windows and to ensure that enough insulation is in the attic That was my first Improvement that saved a lots wall insulation Thank you for sharing

Over the past few years, I have changed gradually to a "less grid dependent" lifestyle- I now heat, cook, and bake exclusively with wood- i have downsized my refrigerator to an energy efficient 75 cubic foot size and my electric bill is less than 30$ each month and i am Happier- i love the coziness of wood heat and knowing that i have the skills to cook/bake with it- i love your channel- thanks for all you do!

@ellenhall2492
Our old home has no central A/C so we use window units I thought they would be very expensive but was very surprised to find that our bill wasn't bad at all At first I ran 2 (upstairs and downstairs) nonstop and our bill wasn't bad but we decided to turn them off or run on a high temp when at work and saved even more money My brother's central unit went up and he bought a window unit while he decided what to do and said his bill was surprisingly lower than when he used central A/C Our heat is a way different story but learned a hard lesson Space heaters are extremely expensive so instead we buy the heating fuel and run it conservatively through the winter and it is much cheaper I am able to keep it to one tank a winter BTW, we invested in siding and what a big difference it made this past year!

@angieprice7206
I am lucky to be able to monitor my daily power usage (in BC, Canada) My biggest saving has come from hanging my laundry to dry My back yard is very private and so I actually hang sheets on my deer fence to dry I also use three racks for smaller things In wet weather I put the racks in the carport behind my car ( so they don’t show from the road) In terrible weather I use the racks indoors It made a huge difference to my bills
Comment from : @angieprice7206

@johnbodnar3720
Hi, thanks for your information, one thing you forgot to mention, no matter how much you reduce your usage, the power company will always put up the price Same problem in Australia, you use less, the price goes up Don't forget, the 1000 watt microwave oven , uses 1000 watts just sitting there on your bench top but when you use it , it almost doubles, turn it off when not in use

The electric company I'm currently using (co-op) ls charging me, every 15 minutes For instant - if I have a 23 watts LED light bulb, the cost would be 23×4 each hour, which equals 92 watts per hour My refrigerator uses 02 watts times 4 equals 8 per-hour And they're charging me $015 for each watt
