I own both and think Rise looks better Textures, Fire, Smoke, Haze effects off fire, grass and foliage, are all better IMO Shadow has better water, lighting and shadows I should mention I'm maxing both games @ 1440p and have raytracing enabled on Shadow, and still think Rise looks best

Turn on the feature of Ray Tracing which replaces conventional shadow effects It's just awesome and brings so much realistic feelings when exploring jungles and caves

Sotr stands no chance against Rottr We have in the previous game a better setting, more variety, tension, thrill I played both in one run recently, and the first 2h of the latest game are so boring, you have basically nothing to kill, you have a boring and slow paced story telling, have you seen how dull Lara is? She is so awkward when she talks to people, she is all the time just out of place, this whole city theme did not do any favour to the game, it was out of place and just weird, while in the other games she was just perfectly integrating herself in her environment, in the previous game she had much more to explore, the story was better, the story telling was better, the only thing that the newest game has is graphics, and more stealth gameplay The voice actor of Lara was in the last game just worse, her accent was thicker than ever, just weird It was for me a dissapoitnment, the game was at best mediocre and Rise is therefore factually the best game of the reboot series

The special effects of the SOTR are much more realistic than those of the ROTR's But IMO the overall sound quality feels better on ROTR except for the shotgun firing sound
