Every engineering degree is worth it if you live in the USA If you're not sure of what field you want to be in, Mechanical Engineering is better to study for your bachelor's than Biomedical Engineering This is because as of today, every entry level Biomedical Engineering job also allows for a Mechanical Engineering degree, but the converse is not the case Comment from : Marquis Strongchild |

Hi Shane! As a biomedical engineer with a biomedical engineering YT channel, watching this was great! You were pretty much spot on in everything you said, and really appreciate you sharing the good words of BME! I would say that one misconception for people thinking of majoring in BME, is that they automatically think that once they graduate they will have a job position titled "Biomedical Engineer" As you saw in the BLS, there are not many "Biomedical Engineer"-ing jobs out there - but BMEs can do so much more! I personally am a Regulatory Affairs Consultant, and work with medical device startups helping them bring their products into the market Quality engineering, R&D, scientists, product development engineering, are all positions a BME can qualify for As you mentioned, I would 100 agree that the downside of BME is that there are other degrees out there that could do your job, and have more "real estate" in people's minds We do have to prove ourselves, but I found most of my BME colleagues to be driven and ambitious, and getting wonderful jobs after graduation I do hope too, that BME will only grow and gain a great reputation in the industry Comment from : The BME Life |
|
