You can start solid food as soon as they can move around on their own at 35 to 4 weeks old The sooner the better (for the mom) It takes a lot out of the mom to feed 4 to 6 pups for an extended amount of time She will still nurse them off and on until they are about 6-7 weeks old and some times longer, but not a big meals By week 8 pups no longer need mom's milk but will try to nurse if mom lets allows, often she will not Comment from : Happy Trail Chihuahuas |
