This video is 100 correct, and I say that as someone who owned the Xbox 360 first and switched to the PlayStation 3 and actually preferred, the PlayStation 3, because of this fact alone brbrAnd ultimately, even the games that came out on both the PlayStation 3 version doesn’t look terrible and the PlayStation three isn’t higher resolution with HDMI

They both have 512mb of ram But the ps3 is split into 256mb of ram for the system and 256mb for the graphics In contrast the Xbox 360 has 512mb of unified ram Which can be divided in any shape or form as needed So With that being said When it comes to playing different titles The Xbox 360 is far more versatile and can handle any game that the ps3 can and can handle many more games that the ps3 can not The ps3 is limited due to this reason Xbox 360 is the stronger more capable console

Some of the best games ever created first launched on the 360 Stuff like Bioshock and Mass Effect come to mind And I think GTA 4 was exclusive for a bit Power doesn't necessarily guarantee excellent video games

I still disagree A Console should be regarded as "Technological Superior" if almost EVERY important aspect of it's hardware fits that way But he PS3 had a bweaker/b GPU and bNON-Unified/b 521MB RAM which makes it actually worse TFLOP Wise

The biggest mistake in Sony gaming history is the garbage cell processor and the price tag on launch day It literally took developers years of the back end of ps3 knowing the ps4 was about to launch and 20 times better than the ps3 because the games ran goated since launch day and through out the ps4 years And the ps3 games was ported from the 360 For third party games except the exclusive version

This isn’t the primary reason for the performance issues The advantage of the 360 was UMA It could dynamically allocate it’s memory to the CPU and GPU This effectively gave the 360 more VRAM The ps3 had a static 256MB pool for the CPU and a /static 256MB pool for the GPU brbrThis is why you see frame rate/resolution differences between them

The problem with the PS3 hardware was that it was so hard to optimise it that in the end, only some first party games could make the best of its power Naughty Dog with the Uncharted and The Last of Us was one case

Better CPU, worse GPU PS3 also had a shit RAM setupIt was over engineered in some regards (for video game workloads) and under performing in other regards That's probably why it was Kutaragi's last time overseeing the development and design of a Playstation console and they brought Mark Cerny in for the PS4 and PS5 Sony's internal developers were their saving grace that generation They took the time to design games and pipelines around the esoteric CPU 360 had an edge in most multiplatform games, sometimes big sometimes small

What metric is being used to claim it was 2x more powerful? Twice as powerful is SIGNIFICANT and as a whole is completely incorrect Granted, for certain very specific computational workloads, the Cell processor was even more than 2x faster than the Xenon in the 360, but video games do not run just one type of load and on the whole, the PS3 was definitely not twice as powerful due to its other bottlenecks

That's only a CPU comparison, 360 GPU was more advanced than PS3's also it's Unified Memory gave it way more versatility, games like Skyrim needed more ram than vram, in 360 you just adjust the quantitys to the game needs, in ps3, bad luck, now if you play over 40 hours the game gets unplayable
