Disclaimer for everyone Use SATA adapter at your own discretion/risk, it may burn At all costs try to use PCIE to power your risers All gpus have very different power usage when it comes to the pcie riser/power Comment from : @RedPandaMining |

rx 5700 gaming x its working on gigabiyte h110d3a ??? brand how i my card only take 9 W when i start working and not make mining ?? brplease answer fast Comment from : @AhmedMagdy-px4xl |

I just build my first mining rig with 4x RX5700, I used SATA to 6 PIN to power the risers I connected all 4 cards to one sata power cable which had 4 plugs, after 8 hours of mining the SATA power cable burned off the PSU The plug on the PSU side was molten So either that Thermaltake 1200W power supply is trash, or it pulls much more power over SATA as you measured A normal PCIe slot provides 75w, I connected 4, so in theory 300w on one sata power cable with 4 plugs I hope my GPUs are still working, couldn't test them yet I returned the PSU and will go now with an EVGA 1300 G2, let's see how that will work out Be careful guys, so far I can't recommend using SATA, at least not 4 risers on one cable I had to learn it the hard way Comment from : @bl4d3runn3rX |
RPM only tested SATA to mine ETH, I'm curious what if it's mining kawpow, progpow or other coins, what gonna happen with that SATA adapter Comment from : @josepheu9077 |
Any assistance on how to build a rig? Comment from : @henrychimeka |

How much do you pay for power? I am in Poland and i pay 0,16$/1kwh Unfortunately we have obsolete power plants (coals) and that's why it is so high Comment from : @InfidelAtWork |

Got 2x 5700, one msi mech and one evoke and 2x 5700xt one msi mech oc and one asus tuf, at 800mV core the 5700 report usage about 125w, the msi XT reports 103 and the tuf one 80wbrAll bios moded like in your video, and all hash 555 on ETHbrEvery card riser at its own sata cablebrbr2weeks no probs 😀brThanks for the mod tutorial Comment from : @mitjakrejac7785 |

Nice GPUs so expensive to build a rig on lol 580 or 1660 what do you prefer for a first rig build? See you have 1660 in your links so am guessing maybe them? lol Comment from : @RabidMining |

Hey man how is your experience with 5700 cards, regarding temperatures?brnitro was an easy winner on polaris cards, whats the case here? Comment from : @MrSlypire |

Models - Sapphire, Powercolor and Gigabyte Comment from : @SerpentXTech |
SATA cables are ok to use, people have had bad experience just because of their own fault Bad mining rig configuration Same thing could happen to pcie connections I have used 99 SATA connections on rigs and never had any issue Comment from : @GuntisVitolins |
Il y a des adaptateurs 2*sata -> 6 pin, cette solution fonctionne bien car elle repartie la charge sur 2 connecteurs, et donc moins de risque Comment from : @razerf |

I dont have that motherboard but i think that the first 6 pcie 1x are powered by the first molex, and the other 2 molex are for the next 6 pcie 1x and the third one Like its ready to work with 3 different PSU at once Comment from : @nicoreg |

I used sata for the risers when I 1st started and over time I seen I was replacing psu Bc of burn out sata plugs at the psu so I moved to server psu’snand not had any more problems since Comment from : @drwaters1981 |

Go sapphire dude ! Comment from : @FurtznFuriouz |
Just fyi on Biostar TB250s the motherboard doesnt need an aux power Best way to set things up anyway is just to use a pcie splitter and power the riser and gpu together on the same bus Makes for easier maintenance I have 12 of those Asus cards 😝 Comment from : @BitKing_Ross |
I have a handful of 5700XT's brbr(4x) Asrock Challenger Dbr(1x) Powercolor Reference Coolerbr(4x) MSI Mech br(3x) XFX RAW IIbr(2x) XFX THICC IIIbrbrThe reference cooler keeps the memory the coolest by far 76c vs next coolest (XFX THIC III) 88c At this point I would recommend triple fan coolers or reference design if you are worried about temps Otherwise Any of the models even with higher temps on memory perform at 100 capacity Comment from : @chasedriscoll7888 |
What’s the power meter please? Thank you Comment from : @petewright2283 |

I ended up getting 3 of the 5700xt nitro's and was thinking of getting the Thic III's to finish out the rig Can't wait to see what you get it to do I vote trying the Sapphire!! Comment from : @chrisfromnewmexico8637 |
I also bought an ASUS Radeon RX 5700 DUAL EVO OC today Looking forward to part 2 :-) I was really surprised by the riser's low power consumption I have experienced two SATA cables that melted when I used them with the RX-570 and GTX-970brCan you check other GPUs power usage? Comment from : @CryptoBaltus |
how about the duel sata plugs? Comment from : @alistairchafer188 |

I'm using SATA cables for risers all the time, but I only connecting 2 risers in each cable from PSU I'm not sure if connecting more is fine or dangerous though Comment from : @AzzozAlHasani |

XFX Triple Dissipation looks like a good value, I think I heard regular 5700 are discontinued so there are more budget xt cards taking over their place in the price gap the 5700 leaves between the 5600xt and 5700xt Comment from : @LoudFlameKing |
Hey Red, you don't need to molex plugged into the motherboard I have used 3 of the mining experts with 13 gpu's one regular psu plugged into the 24 pin and cpu with a server psu No issues ever Comment from : @LindoGringo833 |
Wassup brobrbrAre you sure that your PSU shows us correct information?brbr01 Amps on PCIe riser — impossible :)brbrFor example Sapphire Pulse 5700 consume 6A via riserbrMSI GAMINGX 5700 — only 3A Comment from : @ChesterBin |

All my 6 radeon vii are plugged via sata since forever 4 radons on the same sata cable 2 on a second cable Comment from : @txtpeer5179 |

Keep in mind the efficient of power supply It around about 85 at 50 load So, maybe you're losing about 2530W of heat You can access the sheet about efficienty in 80 Plus website It happens to every eletric/eletronic devices Comment from : @golfdeltalima19 |

the extra 25 w power isn't the power supply? Comment from : @twentypt6872 |
The risers I have come with SATA connections on the riser board, I use only 2 risers MAX per SATA cable This avoids using ANY adapters, I much rather use a direct connection instead of adapters! Comment from : @michaelgelinas7862 |
Hi red panda, I have 24 5700, first I had them connected to the sata ports, 2 burned after weeks, now I have everything connected with the PCIE Comment from : @checho21187 |
I am using sata adapters for all my risers for the past 8 months, I did not know it's blasphemous @#$^ Oh Lord of mining I ask thee forgiveness for my sins which I shall continue doingbrNote: Just make sure that the SATA cable coming from the PSU is not hot when the rig is mining I am currently using 3 adapters per SATA cable Comment from : @hmandeelful |
i've been using Sata cables since 2017 to power risers and never had a single issue the rule for me was: One sata cable per riser This was always considering one thing: the card should not exceed 150W (the power that the 8pin is able to deliver) -(since all my cards have only one 8Pin connected) Some cards may not allow that GPU to work unless they have the two power cables connected (like the XFX RX 590 fatboy) Now that i've seen the wattage that the sata cable is pushing, it may be safe to put two risers per sata (always having in mind the 150W limit on the Pcie) This can be done ONLY IF NECESSARY always be safe on your cable managementbrbroh, btw, Micron is the best memory those cards can get Samsungs are meh, i don't think you can get elpida (which are also meh) , and hynix which are usually average Please, tell us which brand are you getting on your cards Thanks!
