To be brutally honest I have never given this movie the credit it deserves and Will Smith too the flowers he also deserve but watching this now in 1080pHDR Dolby Vision and Atmos I must say there's a lot that was done that the average viewer would probably Miss! The Six Million Dollar Man effectively illustrated this problem 45 years ago brbr It's stunning how awful this looks The normal shots are distracting, but the fx shots just scream fake brbrIn SMDM, they notoriously (and paradoxically) showed bionic powers in slow motion because they look ridiculous at normal speed That is very much like what we're seeing here

Cattle was conditioned their whole lives to watch movies in 24 fps, that's why all the boomers defend this outdated piece of crap Obviously, the reason why many movies are still shot in 24 frames is to save money and resources on filmmaking Higher framerates require more proper handling of each scene, otherwise many flaws such as poor acting, poor special effects, and poor stunt work are much more obvious, which is why filmmakers shoot in 24 frames to cover up all these flaws Also, about the silly soap opera argument Television started broadcasting at 50-60 fps quite a long time ago, so many TV series created specifically for broadcasting on TV were filmed in higher framerate, because of their low budget and other problems high framerate revealed all the flaws out, that's why high framerate in movies and associated with cheapness

I'm sooo tired of choppy action flicks especially when they don't use a well stabilized camera, the action is always so muddied, I understand that lower frames help to hide more bad acting but more frames is more detailed point blank The issue that some folks have is movies should still offer cinematic motion blur which is often lowered too much in slow paced scenes, but that is an issue of execution not of more framesbrbr(I should note this movie is still seemingly doing something weird which maybe makes sense for potentially slower gray-to-gray screens but I'll note it regardless Which is that the light parts of the frame which are ment to show darker pixels in the next seem to be artificially darkened further, this IIRC is called luminor overdrive & in motion might be harder to perceive but if you pause on a frame you may notice itbrbrThis technique is not an issue linked to higher FPS, if anything it's likely to be of better service to sharpen muddied lower frame delivered content but it may be unnecessary on this faster content & it's holdover use might be the actual issue at play here, it's in a sense over-sharpening/motion-sharpening & our minds may receive that as flawed Again this is separate from 60fps being the issue, but as with motion blur, if you use 24fps techniques on higher FPS content it'll make the misused editing more noticeable, because your brain has more data to work with, thus, it'll scrutinize it more harshlybrbrTLDR; more movies should be HFR, but need to be done correctly, as most TV's don't offer "competent" motion smoothing, and those which do(only Sony if we're honest)still have to work off of a mere 24fps in most cases, which simply isn't a whole lot of data, & it's just gonna be a better experience if it's filmed correctly with better detail(or even camera movement)to begin with, as 24fps on anything that's action packed leaves much to be desired, imagine watching boxing in 24fps, it's trash enough at 30, high frames is simply something that we should've adjusted to a long time ago rather than focusing on profits
