I use shoe laces as a wick, 100 polyester Seems to work great and is very cheap!

Ok, microfiber honesty is one of the worst things for our environment Yes, it will break down into smaller bits but these fibres will be around well they don't know how long The fibres get into fish in the ocean we eat fish we eat microfibre not good for fish or us So I would need to change that one

As far as I have come across, cotton wicks will work once you completely wet them for the first time

Great video I love the idea of drilling a hole in those pretty self-watering planters They have never worked well for me, but I think with a hole and a wick, they probably would!

Hey Dani, I had a question about one of my orchids I recently repotted my phalaenopsis about 3 days ago I watered it immediately after repotting and I noticed today that the media was completely dry I repotted it in the imperial dark orchid mix from repotme, which I think may have ultimately been a bad decision on my part as I live in a fairly arid climate Point being, on top of the rapidly drying medium, the orchid leaves seem to be dehydrating a bit This problem was occuring before I repotted (hence why I repotted it), however, the repotting seems to have made the dehydration a bit worse It isn't terrible, the leaves aren't flopping over, but I can bend them pretty easily with my finger I also know mild dehydration after repotting can occur So my question is, is this dehydration just a side effect of the repotting, or is it an issue with the mix I chose? If the later, would you have any recommendations for how I could remedy the issue? I thought about just repotting again, but I don't have any other mixes available and I was worried it may just stress the orchid more Oh, and the roots themselves are very healthy, so that isn't an issue Thanks in advance!

I had to watch this before going to bed because since getting obsessed with orchids I am working on designing my own pot but more for the orchid than the human :) It is trial and error but I am hoping for good results and probably will apply for a patent in a year or two when I have something that works Thank you for sharing your thoughts - Heidi
