Rich or poor, learned or not, proper etiquette and good hygiene, coupled with utmost consideration for others versus putting oneself first over others feeling and acting as if you are the most 'privileged one'(translated: simple arrogance) are basic human behavior(positive and otherwise) that are both learned and acquired early in life Common sense dictates that modest and humble people knew too well why some people just go overboard, when it comes to unacceptable behaviors

After 14 cruises, I think there are times when it's OK to move ahead of the person in front of you who is waiting for the attendant to do something The food beyond the person waiting will virtually never run out, so it's not like you're taking the last piece of bacon by jumping ahead

I eat primarily at the buffet I like trying new things, so I get one bite of many different items I place them carefully on my plate so they remain separate If something is extra good, I'll go back for more of that item I love soups and get a few spoonsful of each soup I'm a slow eater, and I enjoy savoring each bite The buffet is one of the main features of any cruise for me

At the buffet…you may certainly bypass a station that doesn’t interest you…if you do not want salad, bypass that station No need for a roadblock at one station

Good info! We sailed on the Koningsdam in its inaugural year, 2016, and it was terrific! The theater is enormous and the BB King band is awesome

On our cruise this last January, we ended up eating dinner at the buffet quite often because the main dining room was taking 2 to 2 1/2 hours The buffet was delicious and the area was so uncrowded that often we had a whole section to ourselves and it was nice and quiet The buffet had items like steaks, shrimp, lobster just like the main dining room I think some of the dishes were even better And it has the exact same desserts So we went to the buffet many times but we ended up going to the dining room around 8 a few times and that time period was fast with only a few people seated in each section

Twice people in the buffet were disgusting and a absolute pig, once on a princess cruise when the person in front of me took some cheese smelted it said it stunk and put it back, so I told the cook or server what this person did and they asked me which piece was it so I said he grabbed three slices and pointed it out and they only took off the cheese this guy stuck up his nose I was so disappointed with that I handed them my tray and went to another restaurant Second was a person on a carnival ship very similar circumstances but it was sausage and scrambled egg with peppers Looked delicious but the person took a serving and took a piece of sausage obviously didn’t like it and they dumped the plate back in the serving platter Again I said something and it was completely removed from the buffet and replaced with fresh sausage scramble I was very impressed with how carnival handled it

This wasn't on a cruise ship, but it was at a potluck! It was so disgusting that I remember it from a few decades ago At the potluck, there was a whole baked turkey One of the servers was literally using her hands to break pieces of the turkey Each person was getting turkey that had been handled by this mom Safe to say, I didn't have turkey that day

The two cases of bfood poisoning/b in my recent memory on cruises did not come from buffet dining, but from bfull service restaurants/b One came from a specialty restaurant, and the other from the main dining room So, misfortunes do not only come from the buffet But yes, I wish the excuses-for-parent would keep their little ill-disciplined tyrants under control

Went on a 10 day cruise in July 2023, Carnival had the worst buffet food and the coffee was horrible, not just my opinion but heard it from many passengers, I voiced my concerns and the staff could care less, they told me to add more hot water to my cup to help water down the coffee the coffee was so strong and they could care less, we will never take a carnival cruise again

I have heard that the buffet is actually arranged from lowest wholesale cost to the kitchen to highest wholesale cost at the end of the buffet brThe secret plan is that your plate will be too full of the cheap stuff to have room for the expensive good stuff at the far end of the buffet

Love your channel, keep up the great content!!!! Ok here's my biggest pet peeve when cruising and I mention this in EVERY post-cruise survey You can wash your hands all you want, sanitize all you want but if you don't want to contaminate everything you touch, DO NOT EAT OFF YOUR PLATE IN THE BUFFET LINE!!!! That is the single fastest way to spread germs from your mouth to your hands to every utensil you touch Want the extra minute until you sit down Cruise lines spend so much time talking about safety, telling you to wash your hands, sanitize, etc but never take the extra minute to talk about food safety That's how you really prevent sickness at buffets I step off my soap box now

As a buffet-a-holic, I agree with everything you say here And yes, I've seen every single one of those faux-pas Thanks for the reminders For my part, I eat a healthy salad on embarkation day at the buffet as it just works best for me, and I tend to LOSE weight on a cruise! LOL Looking forward to our January '24 cruise on the brand new Carnival Jubilee!!! Think I'll need to check ahead of our cruise to see what other offerings might be worthwhile on cruise day

As someone who has food allergies I call guest access prior to boarding to inform them of my medical and food allergies When it comes to specialty dining I am advised to stop by before they open and speak with the chef so that they can plan my meal ahead of time away from things i am allergic too I am deathly allergic to tomatoes but love Italian food so on my last cruise i saw they didn't have any non-tomato dish and wanted to enjoy a meal from them and when i spoke to the chef regarding my food allergy he took 2 meatballs and made them separate and with alfredo sauce and made a nice dinner for me to enjoybrbrWhen our party booked the chef table my roommate and his family are diabetic and with my food allergy the Chef made sure to make the meal work for all of us and if a dish had tomato in it i was given the option of swapping it for a substitute or give it to one of them and snag one of their dishes
