The two lads are pumping out AMAZING content for really good, number crunchy approaches to the units!brbrIn my experience, the Voulgier - while a GREAT Shock troop (which I think I really understated, sorry guys) - should not be looked at as the mainstay of the army, replacing the Sergeant It should, ideally, act as a strong addition and compliment to the Sergeant Using an entire line of Voulgiers against say Khuzait will result in a lot of casualties before you even make contact Same thing goes with any army whose AI skews to heavy amounts of ranged units

Personally, I think that the Best Army is one that can use any unit, and is willing to use any unit There's something interesting to see Sturgia, Battania, Valandia, Khuzait, Aseria, Empire, Mercenary, Bandit, and Minor Faction troops all working together under one banner Real trick is making sure that the Companions leading them have the perks needed, and having plenty of Companions to cover most everything - one-hand, two-hand, polearm, bow, crossbow, throwing, foot, and mounted

Vlandia isn't meant to have great infantry Their armies are defined by the famous Vlandian Steamroller (calvary charge), and supported by crossbowmen

I use only sergeant and sharpshooter from regular Vlandian units I am new to the game, and I noticed when I mixed them up, that the survivability of the voulgier or the pikeman are very low compare to the sergeant for my tactic at least brSergents are really good to break a cavalry charge, their shield and armor make them resistant to ranged troops but they are not good against infantry specially other tier 5 That's why I am using them to protect my ranged troops which are spamming infantries charges and I mix them with imperial tier 5 and battanian skirmisher It does a good mix against all type of attack even hundred of palace guards who are really weak against ranged troops (specially sharpshooters)

Volgiers are good when just setting them to charge ngl, loose infantry fighting and for some reason kinda good at killing horsemen?(ofc only after the initial attack)

Anybody have any idea what happened to the Tier 3 Vlandian Infantry? It's still in the game, NPC armies and Garrisons sometimes field them But you can't upgrade your units to it anymore The only way to get them, apart from Cheat Mode, is by recruiting them from prisoner stacks

It strikes me as odd that the voulge even made the cut to be included on the Vlandia unit tree Vlandia seems to be based loosely off France or Norman England and the "voulge" wasn't as common in my country during this time It was more popular in Germany and the Holy Roman client states For France and Norman England the Men at Arms and Sergeants were the mainstay of most medieval field armies, or for Later England I would go with heavier archer classes

This video came right on time I was going for a 90 vlandian army style in my current campaign and I would never have guessed the sergeants are low tier They still look badass tho!
