This is so odd The PS3 is the fist console I've ever seen that doesn't support the console before, but does support earlier consoles Usually when game consoles Have backwards compatibility, they have the capabilities to run at least the games from the previous console For example, the Wii had backwards compatibility with the Gamecube, and the xbox series x has backwards compatibility with the og xbox, xbox 360, and xbox one games However, only early fat models of PS3 had backwards compatibility with both PS1 and PS2 The new revisions of the PS3 only had PS1 compatibility, but not PS2, which is very odd to me and it's the first time I've seen a situation like this

I actually had the rare one as a kid but sadly the game Blazing angels 2 was stuck in the ps3 and i had asked my mom if she could take it to a repaired shop She threw it away and gotten me and my brother another ps3 and I was piss because she didn't know that one didn't play ps2 games

Unless you took off the chrome and it has the memory slots underneath the cover right next to the disc drive you got the second if not third provision so it’s rare but not that rare
