The backplate and washer are half moon for a reason they go through top of sink with tap makes it a lot easier Comment from : Jamesy Cotter |

As a plumber of37 years, read the instructions before taking the word of an amateur on you tube who likes the sound of his own voice The instructions will always state to put flexible pipes HAND TIGHT ONLY Do not use spanner’s, grips or pointed nose pliers(😂) to tighten them in, it’s possible you’ll misshape the O ring or even tear it which will result in you get a wet face and feeling fairly irate Comment from : richard may |
It's a mission to replace those type, I prefer the ones with the big nut Comment from : S N |
I use a socket set, extension bar with a 360 knuckle on the socket, means you dont have to get dead straight on the nut Comment from : Paul Johnstone |
Glad to see he did not connect flexi to isolation valve and uses an adaptor which is correct unlike the majority of plumbers who just go straight onto valve Comment from : jmc |
Those tail adaptors are brilliant, cost almost nothing and give peace of mind Comment from : Richard Black |
Is it really worth fitting isolation valves? They always seem to be seized up when you first need to turn them off after they've been in use for ten years Comment from : number 33 |
I add a little rubber grease to the flexi pipe o rings just to help things along a bit Comment from : GentlemanH |
Surely the tap manufacturers could come up with a better design to make it easier to fit? Comment from : Dunno Anyone |
Top video, thank you Good tip at the end :) Comment from : Graham M Lawrence |
Another great video, thanks so much Really liked the pro tip at the end about gently flattening the seat of the isolating valve so as not to cut the washer on the flexibrGreat to see the little nicks and cuts on your hands Roger - shows you're still very much on the tools!brMuch appreciated 👍👌👏 Comment from : Simon Morris |
These are usually pre-attached It is not that hard Comment from : Gordon Waldner |
When I fit this type of tap I always loctite the stud, and glues the rubber to the horse shoe Job done Comment from : john shere |

Nice videoIn the USA we call those shut of valves under the sink "Angle Stops" When replacing a sink faucet I never touch those little shut off valves, I turn off the main Hand tight is good on those water flex they won't unscrew by themselves Removing the old valve is usually the hardest part Having a 4" cordless grinder with a cut-off wheel is very useful from abovebe careful not to scratch the sink Single handle faucets are much more ergonomic than that 2 handle piece of dung Comment from : Read More |
Put a another nut on to lock it or els they are going to call you back later again when the tap turns Comment from : thunder storm |
He sounds like Roger Daltrey from the Who Comment from : bulletsdodger |
Thank you I always use those brass tap adapters, always gives you peace of mind that it won't leak! Comment from : David Bridges |
Thanks for the tips Saved me a long job Comment from : formicapple2 |
Yu can still buy copper tails, my personal preference, that said i fitted a tap with braided hoses and plastic ends I think from IKEA the hot tap has a water hammer when shut off rapidly, it blew the plastic apart it too came with the schittiest waste, a narrow flexible waste, they should be banned thank for your videos Comment from : jan stafford |
I would have bought 2 longer hoses instead of extending the pipes Comment from : Claude Desaulniers |
I have arms like Mr Tickle so it's easy Comment from : 15 Minute Prisons |
This is how its been in Belgium ever since I moved here in 1997 Probably before Nice to see UK catching up with "the continent " Notice you still have two separate taps though rather than one like we have here Comment from : Geoff Woodgate |
All faucets share the same design flaw With the "older style" the 3/4 brass piping needs a sleeve to tighten to the sink with long enough 3/4 brass to extend well below the base of the sink When plumbers were cheap the extra price of the faucet was unwarranted but times change In your example the flexies are great but you still have to break your back to tighten the faucet to sink clamp because the machine screw is too short There are a number of rube goldberg tools which just don't work very well Finally if you buy "designer" fixtures good luck getting parts changing aerators etc Faucet quality is by the pound; Heavy is good, light is lousy Comment from : Practical Landlording |
I did this not to long ago its an easy job really, was a pain to get the nut done up tight under the sink as i didn't have a long enough spanner for it but other than that 100 a DIY job Comment from : United Spotlight |
On a recent install I added a spring washer just to keep the mechanical connection of the tap to the sink tight Comment from : mungoh42 |

The easiest way to change a sink tap is to get some other idiot to do it Comment from : David Bradford |
wau,its amazing,,,,,,,good job still learning,,,all the way from kenya Comment from : TrM&CLRJULIUS |
Why do they make them so that you cant get a spanner on them!! your using long nose pliers!!!! defect from the manufacture's they need to sort that out, also make the flexi's longer that 250mm it's under a Kitchen sink!! Comment from : Pistol Knight |
That bar you get with that box spanner set went strait in the nearest dustbin on my first job using them as it was a pain to use, so I now use a long pozi screw driver bit about 6 inches long '' it works great and easy to fit in and out and a handy tip for doing up those chrome sink waste units if they dont come with a socket fitting just a slot ,is use a set square rule and use the set square handle to turn gently , works magic all the time 😆 I also put a bit of Red insulation tape on the hot supply and blue for cold before removing old as you may fit flexi's wrong way round so many useful tips 🤣 feels like christmas has come early br🎄 Comment from : Raving Nutter |
This chap isn’t giving the full facts I have been a plumber for over thirty years,I have installed hundreds of momo block taps and would never use the supplied flexible hose pipesI only ever use Copper tails which are readily availableFlexible hoses have a Rubber tube inside and rubber eventually gets brittle and leaks It’s a cop out using flexible hoses and is usually for people that can’t be bothered to do it properly Comment from : Roger-Ring |

The reason there is a horseshoe washer as opposed to a full washer is so you can feed everything from the top including the washer so you don’t accidentally drop the brass nut 😊😊 Comment from : Tim Welford |
So if that's the easy way, what's the difficult way? I don't know another way than how he did it Comment from : paddyglenny |

Good little tip there Comment from : Marty Ja |
Had lots of practice in my home as wife wants the changing out every two to three years, this year they are black, I don't nip up the hoses as I find that hand tight is fine never leaked I always have problems with the plug hole leaking even with seals top and bottom so rightly or wrongly just put a line of silicone around the threads that makes a better seal Just have to make sure the overflow hole lines up with the cut out on the plughole I invested in a set of box spanners when I was a Handyman and they have served me well Comment from : Nev George |
Always great vids cheers mate Comment from : Toolbox 7 |
Sometimes after fitting the tap the surface of the stainless steel on cheaper sinks is so thin that it will flex and so the tap does not feel rigid I make a triangular shaped bracket (to avoid the flex hoses) with a drill hole corresponding to the tap mounting bolt diameter and slide it up and secure it with a couple of screws to the underside of the work surface This means that the tap is now secured not just to the stainless steel but has some lateral support 3cm below Stops tall taps waggling about Comment from : joseph prosser |
Well done and thanks awfully for all the good tips👌🏻 Comment from : Miles Brown |

i file the edge off as well Comment from : anthony duvall |
Another couple of tips are that the tap back plate can be installed from the top , hence that crescent moon shape Another is I use Hepworth irons on the bottom of the Felix (Screwfix sell them) and this prevents twisting the Flexi when tightening Comment from : A wood worker |
That video stopped rather abruptly! I thought there'd be some piece of wisdom on how to stop the taps wobbling after tightening the nut That problem drives me mad! Comment from : Doublethink |
rad tail or flat faced isolation valves are better Comment from : Mark A |
I usually file off one end of the iso valve , but now you can actually buy isolation valves that have one flat end Comment from : Mark Jeffrey |

Any advice on how much to tighten the horseshoe bolt on a porcelain sink? Mine keeps getting loose and I’m worried about over tightening and cracking something Comment from : Paul Sweeney |
I just had to replace my tap and used all the tips you have detailed but I couldn't get the box spanner on fully due to the back of the cabinet being in line with the nut Also I had to remove all the drainage pipe just to get access New builds are a real pain The tap works fine but it's not tight to the sink top and I can see it moving later Comment from : David Twist |
Rog, happy new year to you I recently changed my tap for one of these with a flexible head, is it normal for the pressure of the water to be reduced dramatically? Comment from : stephen willis |
