The intro was the end of the iconic old time line introduced in MK 1 in 1992, it confirmed Shao Kahn defeated Blaze and absorbed his power, Raiden sends message to his old self to start new time line but in OG time line Shao Kahn remains supreme!

I played this game after I completed my freshmen year of college in 2011 Those were good times If anyone wants to play a very good Mortal Kombat game, it would be this game Why? Because it is a reboot and it is an alternate retelling of the events of MK1-3 Plus, MK9 had the best villain of Mortal Kombat back, Shao Khan This was Shao Khan at his most evil Plus, this game setups the events of MK X (eg, Earth's heroes become zombie revenants, Johnny Cage and Sonya will become a couple in MK X and produce Cassie Cage, Shinnok will be the next villain, etc) Overall, this was a fun game to play and no need to be remastered The graphics are still pretty good even for today's standards In fact, these graphics are two years ahead of it's time Best Mortal Kombat game ever (at least for me)

What Raiden failed to realize until it was almost too late was that Tournament was never meant to protect Earthrealm It was devised to give Earthrealm a fighting chance against Outworld and Netherrealm, as realistically in the direct war Earthrealm would never stand any chance But nobody could know the final outcome
