The Lightning Network has been working now for a few years and is cheap, fast, secure, private, and getting better all the time DON'T YOU THINK YOU SHOULD UPDATE YOUR VIDEO OR MENTION THAT??? Comment from : Mike D |
Routing is not as hard as you think Theoretically its NP hard, but in practice you can cache known routes and retry with a BFS shortest path traversal if the first transaction fails The real problem is that it will take decades to onboard everyone We can either use drivechains to solve this or lightning channel factories Comment from : Mike Staub |
What now? LN has more than 80K channels, still txns take less than a second Comment from : MetaFire Gaming |
Can you update this? There are an estimated 80m users today and 84,000 channels Comment from : Chris Bushell |

I think Bitcoin want to be some kind of institutional currency People will have to use some other crypto to smaller transactions, with exchanges in between That's not a big of a problem, actually Comment from : Emanuel Gonçalves Santos |

There’s a huge economic problem with lighting is that it’s extremely rare that you buy and sell to the same individual or company Also if Bitcoin transaction cost goes up to extreme highs there is not a incentive to run the transaction back onchain again Bitcoin BTC has massive problems at its core Comment from : thomas owen |
You previously argued “Moore’s law” to advocate for larger blocks (which I tend to agree with) But, now, Moore’s law won’t make this computing issue obsolete? 50 some tx per second doesn’t scale either (BCH)brbrEdit: I reread this and it sounded kind of condescending I don’t mean it that way, just genuinely confused as to how on chain solutions work and off chain don’t because they both face computing issues which will be solved through Moore’s law I tend to think that some form of tx limit is good for decentralization now, and we can see what solution evolves Comment from : JS |
Hello from 2021 Lightning network has been scaling for 2 years since your video Major exchanges are adopting its, services like strike are using it, merchants are accepting LN as payment Layer 1 scaling does not work without sacraficing security Have fun stay poor! Comment from : NotraNaum |

Great explanation, we at Scroda recently found the solution in order to be able to concept zero-confirmation transactions on-chain thus eliminating the need of insecure off-chain solutions such as the lighting network take a read belowbrbrBitcoin, created to disrupt the banking industry has been faced with scaling issues sinces it’s creation Temporary solutions such as the lighting network have surfaced to provide instant like transactions to be used for micro-transactions as it is not truly secure Leaving a need for large transactions and micro-transactions alike to be conducted in an instant like manner while being secure Scroda being fully aware of the problem affecting all cryptocurrency users who have decided to unbank their wallets, has found the solution to implement zero-confirmation transactions through the use of relay chainsbrbr mediumcom/@scroda/scroda-solves-the-puzzle-to-concept-zero-confirmation-transactions-28ed8bfd06ba Comment from : Scroda |

1 "Routing" is somewhat inappropriate term "Path finding" would be more appropriate On the internet, each data packet is "routed" on-the-fly by each node that receives it On the LN, the user must find and choose the full path before it can send the fundsbrbr2 FLARE does not take into account the current channel states (which are unknowable, almost by definition) It only finds a path that bmay/b have the required capacity bif/b the channels are not too saturated It is not clear how FLARE might help you find an alternative path if the first one it found did not work Comment from : Jorge Stolfi |
Only 2 outcomes for BTC to scale at this point for mass adoption 1) port to EOS or 2) bigger blocks I know it’s not something most people want to hear LN only works when you already have BTC in your wallet What happens when BTC hits mass adoption and billions of people are buying and selling on coinbase on the main chain Yes LN would be fast until you close the channel Comment from : jim jones |
Very interesting video! I'm here because the lightning network makes me feel very uncomfortable What are your thoughts on Bitcoin SV? I understand that there is now an elephant in the room you have to consider and I think we all know who I'm talking about But what are your thoughts on SV and csw Comment from : Adam Houtz |

Routing is not a problem if you think about car navigation softwares: billions and billions of possible roads from NYC to LA, but your smartphone can calculate a good route in seconds You do not need to compute all the possible routes to get a good result! The same is with TCP/IP or LN Those videos have very good quality standards, but it seems just Bcash propaganda to me Comment from : Damiano Bonazzi |
"completely stopped on-chain scaling"brbrNot true With the activation of segwit the block size limit was effectively raised Comment from : Johnny Araújo |

:-) you wrong, its scaling brBitfury design Flare routing and test it even in 2016 br mediumcom/meetbitfury/bitfury-lightning-network-algorithm-successfully-tested-935efd43e92b brWe design and test routing initially it was designed, exactly in way to avoid limitations, I has CNE in routing - so its designed to be limitless Comment from : Alex Petrov |

Well how's it worked out for pretty much everyone through history, who said "It can't be done"? brI will believe the math geniuses behind Bitcoin over this idiot any time Comment from : Wu Flu Atju |
I like your content, but this one is simply false informationbrbrYou don't need the optimal channel out of all that exist, you just need 1 good enough channelbrbrWhat are your thoughts on that? Comment from : Malibluu |

Lightning may fail If it does BTC will still be King and gold for crypto There are better coins for moving money like LTC and dgb, both are better than bch Comment from : raymond nichols |

Have you seen anything about how to route traffic in the IP (Internet Protocol) specification by any chance? Still internet works somehow and even scales well enough :) Comment from : Дмитрий Леоненко |

Did you know tcp/ip never described its routing mechanism I guess tcp/ip will never oh wait Comment from : Shan224 |
If everyone had to build, operate and maintain a core banking system so they could participate in a transaction they would think this was ridiculous You don't need to run servers, gateways or a database to use the internet, this is exactly what LN is asking you to dobrThe desire of users to run their own node will also restrict adoption, you should be able to just spend and receive Comment from : AtheSier |
Lightning Network is a technical farce promoted by charlatans Comment from : Frank Flores |
You're sitting on a log as the world rides into the distance Comment from : Lee Jun-fan |
why is it a problem that it doesn't scale to full world population capacity on day 1? the internet is still finding ways to scale, let LN do the same in time Comment from : Ricardo Filipe |
Accurate, but Extended LN ( failsafenetwork/) solves all that Comment from : Egor Homakov |

Why cant we just make new bitcoin-like stuffbrbrThat will satisfy majority of the groups?brBth is still 1 year So theres potentialbrBtc has too many things to achieve to be called the new face of financial transactionsbrbrSooo I propose different kinds of bitcoin (forks)brEach for majority of what people want Comment from : Nicito Sta Ana |

here comes Border Gateway Protocol Comment from : SuperResistant |

Why don't you do, once in your life, a video of how LN works and not how it doesn't work ? None of your viewer have any idea of how it works, they come to find reason it may not work Comment from : SuperResistant |

Naja ist wohl etwas komplexer wie ein paar striche zu zeichnen🤣 zudem ist es erst am anfang Bitcoin mother off all In 2 jahren hat bitcoin ein gutes Lightning und Bcash 128GB und keine nutzer 🤣🤣🤣 FUD Comment from : CrYpToDE86 |

If a network has a limit of 100 channels and each user has 10 channels, it doesn't mean that the maximum users is 10 This is because each channel connects 2 users, not 1 I agree that it's still not going to be enough users, but it's more than 1,000 to 100,000 users as per your video Maybe 2,000 to 200,000? Comment from : Juan Lespins |
This video is full of nonsensebrbrYou don't have to look at every possible path You just have to find several competitive paths Likewise that quote from Rusty was about a very early interim solution I no longer works that way Likewise the Bitcoin core team hasn't stopped on chain scaling, they are building MAST and other technologies Comment from : Big Lambda |
Citation needed for "routing is unsolved" Because, I'm pretty sure that's bullshit Comment from : cent25 |

Why use lightning when I can pay 2 sats per byte on the main chain Comment from : Bluecore |
talk about iota and talk about hashgraph please ^^ Comment from : Walla |
this is why Ethereum is preferable even for simple transactionsbrsince the value of its chain depends on its use for blockchain verified computation, and transactions are simply one of the least costly computations, any scaling proposal has to scale the actual ethereum network, and it is vital for transactions on an ether chain to stay cheap enough for more complex computations to remain possible Comment from : AnarchistMetalhead |
Btw for the naysayers out there I've been doing IT/Security/Teaching for the past 10 years The misinformation on this technology to be the holy grail to the scaling problem is mind boggling Decentralized Thought keep up the good work with the videosbrMy credentials speak for themself: wwwlinkedincom/in/timothyharpjr/ Comment from : Tim Harp |
Lightning networks routing is one that the internet has yet to solve since inception in the early 1990s There are constant attacks on the BGP protocol on internet routing I see the same happening with the lightning network in the future as it progresses Comment from : Tim Harp |
Today I see that LN has the same problem, like BTH: tiny number of transactions No transactions - no need to scale Comment from : Alex Maz |
Mate keep these up! You're doing amazing work :) Comment from : Riley Tonkin |
What would you think of a lightning network hub on a scalable chain - say Eos So that Bitcoin offchain becomes Eos onchain I guess that it would still be preferable for btc to scale directly but what do you think if such a solution could be done? Could it be a viable way to combat a btc takeover? Comment from : Martin |
You put a lot of effort in the video and were quite explicit, well done mate What are your views on what Ethereum is doing to scale? There is sharding among other things Comment from : Tokemon |
If that is the case, that btc core will be making profit using third party scaling (through lightning or any other technology), people will just replace btc with a different coin Bch is there already and other coins as well I don't see this as a big issue Comment from : Tino Hartung |
seems like mostly propaganda in this video it's a shame that there is so much disinformation being spread Comment from : mrtamborineman10 |
So it scales, just not in the way its being done right now And segwit is a blocksize increase, by the way Comment from : Lucas Zanella |
So much BS, againbrThe Lightning does scale, the network already has more nodes than bcash, more than 2000, has more than 7000 channelsbrThe routing is done instantly with ease The end user just needs to have 1 or 2 established channels with couple of big nodes to make a payment to any other user The routing problem is not even a problembrWho is paying for this misinformation? Comment from : God OhMy |
This is why nano will over take btc Comment from : ꧁Riz̷zard꧂ |
Lightning network is not scaling of Bitcoin, and it is complete garbage, banker's who are funding Blockstream, who are creating this Lightning network, are trying to hide its centralisated nature behind Bitcoin name, which is why they use propaganda narrative that Lightning is scaling of Bitcoin it is notbrbrGreat video, as usual you and I and many others can see Lightning is not usable in decentralised way as routing just can't work, and also small blocks on BTC makes it more shitty as it prevents many people from opening and closing channels in the first place Comment from : -ED- |
Not only that, but you have to also scale Watchtowers It would be funny if it wasn't so hideous To quote Daniel Krawisz, Co-Founder of the Satoshi Nakamoto Institute, "I am disgusted with [Bitcoin] Cash for not existing sooner" Comment from : Smile |
So awesome! Great research, great organization, great information How do you feel about @Aantonop when asked about your video "How the banks bought Bitcoin" with just "its fud"? Comment from : Ripsaw |

Great information as always Comment from : Lark703 |
Glad you are going to be doing regular videos again They have very important things to know and think about Thanks for your work Comment from : First Last |
since they have to be online anyway, the receivers address may as well include their IP so they can transact p2p Comment from : justice |
Awesome video man! Really love how you explain these very technical information! Like to see both sides of the picture, and this is a very good one, at first people use to get excited on what LN is promising, but its clear to see that after a couple of years of development they have not been able to release it Comment from : Mauro |
Publish you content on yoursorg as well, so we can tip you Comment from : Roman Puhek |
@3:06 From the whitepaper - "Eventually, with optimizations, the network will look a lot like the correspondent banking network, or Tier-1 ISPs [Internet Service Providers]" Comment from : Kid With A Computer |
