we just had to fire our contractor because they were redoing our driveway, and when they took out boulders and cement they dropped it over on to the retaining wall, cracked our foundation rocks and cracked the rock on the other retainment wall they took half of the money and after over a month we fired them Now we are getting a structural engineer to come look at it, and we have no driveway, rock in the road, and I'm a mess I love your channel and wish you could come out and look at our project! I put geotextile fabric between the six inches of top soil and the 3/4" drainage rock at the very top of the wall to keep that soil from migrating down into the drainage rock I did not put anything between sloped earth and the 3/4 drainage rock / blocks Comment from : @felixyusupov7299 |

My back yard wall collapsed roughly 2 years ago Anchor stones roughly 5 feet high, pretty sure they're only rated for like 2 feet Surprisingly, after digging some away, I did found the drain The aggregate used was 1" pea stone there's a garage about 4' away from the top of the wall Even as little landscaping knowledge I have, I knew it was wrong I bought the house with the wall already built so I accepted the fact it was going to collapse I guess, but christ I hate bad DIY jobs Comment from : @joekraynak5531 |

I used Timbers to build them, have proper drainage pipe at bottom, gravel fill, fabric to hold the soil It has been more than 6 yrs now But I see it is starting to tip over, it has moved slightly moved outwards at the top(like the one that is shown at end? So eventually dirt fills up the voids between the rock behind the wall and it doesn't drain any morebrLeading to hydraulic pressure and the retaining wall fails brIt might take an extra decade or so but it is inevitable, right?brbrOr is there something that's not filter fabric that keeps the dirt from filling the gaps between the rock and would let a walk last a hundred years! I'll swear I think it would be cheaper on a 8-foot wall to put in a porch footing and pour a concrete retaining wall but to each their own a lot of people don't like the way they look and the way you do your walls is the right way I'm not saying it's not it's just I would I would feel safer with concrete in my area here we have yellow clay a lot of rainfall a lot of heavy wet so it's just easier to hold it with poured concrete Comment from : @donniebargo964 |
