My original supervisor and I had came from completely different ontological and epistemological perspectives He was a logical positivist wedded to the scientific method I was a non-posititivist wedded to qualitative, interpretation of phenomena We agreed we were not a good fit He remained a great mentor and collaborator My new supervisor came from the same school of thought as me He never gave me advice, he just asked very probing questions such as 'have you thought about ' and 'what if xyz happened' Thank you for an illuminating discussion Comment from : Paul Cùle |
