Universities do not give academics enough time for supervising students Often times academics just want to focus on their own research

I listened to your every word Tara A lot of good reflection points for me in my situation now I agree that expectation management is key to a healthy relationship with my supervisor Unfortunately, I was 8 weeks away from my examination when my supervisor claimed that I did not make satisfactory progress yet to get my PhD With that said, I will do my best to learn from this video on how I can move forward from here I truly appreciate it!

My faculty has just appointed a new supervisor to supervise me since the former supervisor has retired Unfortunately my new SV didnt even read my whole thesis She just read minimum page n wrote my thesis has no gap So she told me 'No Gap No PhD' She didnt even give me constructive feedback What makes me worried is my SV has different field of expertise She holds a PhD in Marketing n my research area is Human Resource Development

I love your vlogs I love my supervisor, but have seen other students suffer under bad supervision It makes it so much harder for the student I came back for my graduate degrees decades after my BSc Your videos inspire me to be the type of student I wish I had been when I was younger

Dear Tara,brWhat an illuminating vlog! I had my academic divorce from my supervisor today right at the end of my 3rd year of PhD All the derisions, bullying and belittling ended up finally but the scars on my research personality and self esteem will be lingering I wish I had not started this PhD at all; most aspects of my life have been overshadowed! Would you please give me your email to cry more on your shoulder?
