I can't remember if I mentioned it before, but the thermal pads I used were the Thermalright Extreme Odyssey 15mm (128 w/mk) 85x45 size and you can get them from Amazon For the 3090FE you need two packets just for the backplate side, 3 if you do the entire card but I know you will need to re-paste it if you do both sides! As for the paste, I know people rave about the Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut but on the guide I saw, a guy used that paste and got worse results than stock so he recommended Thermalright TFX or TF8! hey there Kevin, interesting video !brbrI can maybe add up some of my experience, if you are sitting your GPU horizontally (as you are) i have replaced thermal pads with simple thermal paste, i've seen quite an improvement Now, my backplate is full brushed aluminium from factory so in my opinion it helps Since it's horizontal, i don't need to have sticky pads, and that's why so thermal paste is okay for that solution Also, what i did is place my 40*40*20 heatsinks directly only above Vram modulesbrAbout push and pull, i've also seen very little difference as you said, but i've chosen pull, so it also pulls part of the heat from the GPU upwards to the exaust, which, does improve internal temperaturesbrHope it can helps Comment from : neolamb93 |

Couldnt you just simply get watercooler from EK (Aio model for GPU) and fix all your issues once and for all Instead of spending god knows how much money on different cases, thermal pads, extra fans etc Waterblocks can be found for about 200$/€ , which if you have RTX 3090 seems like meaningles price to pay for getting your temps normal Comment from : Drasko Kelava |

Your assertion that a thicker thermal pad is somehow better is a completely flawed one A "better" thermal pad dissipates more heat faster Thickness has next to nothing to do with this As a matter of fact a less efficient thermal pad will perform better if it's thinner Comment from : covenant11 |

Great video Inspired me to go for the low hanging fruit and just sit a single large heatsink I bought from Amazon on the back of my Gigabyte 3090 master backplate (using Extreme Odyssey 1mm thermal pads 128 w/mk) Worked far better than I expected I only use for gaming but was still hitting 98c-99c on the memory junction Havan't seen it go above 90 since applying the heatsink Will hopefully ensure a few more years of card use Comment from : Dale Brown |

Thicker pads won't reduce temp In fact thinner pads are better Its pads with higher thermal conductivity you need Like Gelid ultimate 15 w/mkbrbrReplacing the thermal pads with Gelid Ultimate under the backplate is the way to go Comment from : Martin W |

First, the testing is very interesting! There might be some issues here - the backplate get´s somewhat hot, but just to a fraction of the other side You can move some heat away, but still limited While the aluminium heatsinks are big, they are not of the most effective kind a heatsink with more fins is more effective than with less (Noctuas new passive cooler has less finns, and it worlks for passive cooling, but adding a fan, and the "passive - less fins" is less affected by the fan, than using Noctuas normal heatsinks with more fins)brCopper is heavy as you say, but spreads heat about 2 times better than aluminium Comment from : Pjotr II |
