I’m 21 bought my father a car very similar to what he owned My mom and dad were married in a 77 trans am 400 4 speed And for my dads 43rd Father’s Day he got a 77 firebird formula Granted it was in project shape but running and driving Another tip you forgot to mention is you gotta ad hunt I looked for 3 years and on Facebook marketplace for 9000 Got it for 5800 out the door Numbers matching and a happy parent My tip mostly works on classic cars but if it’s truly your dream car outside of work you should be actively hunting and watching because sometimes life coincides with decisions that have to be made

Got an m240i at 21 Nothing too crazy but I'm proud enough of it I don't party and have negative desire to have kids Haven't gotten a speeding ticket (yet lol) Hopefully I'll be in either an m4 or zl1 by 2023 or so The reasonable part of me knows home ownership should be a priority, but I don't mind holding that off for another 5 or so years

Solid advice y’all I bought my dream truck a 2006 Chevy 2500hd 80k miles, garage kept, Allison 6speed mated to an LBZ Duramax for 20k cash I spent 3yrs after graduating high school searching and saving until i found exactly what trim and year i was looking for THE ONLY TIP i would add is if you’re gonna buy cash make sure you can afford to pay for it twice if you are going to dump all your savings! I was lucky enough to have saved over 50k when I finally bought mine and it helped me get it new tires, maintenance, and of course extra goodies to increase my HP/TORQUE

I would agree with do it before you have kids But I’d also add don’t do it until you can afford it and it won’t at all affect how you want to live your life If you have to stop going out to pay for your car you are what they call car poor I have a grand sport and my life is no different than before I bought it, outside of the fact I get places faster with more enjoyment lol
