well, if taking Narnia as an example, you can't really say think small, coz heros starting to colide with some different universe and that universe likely was born before main charackers were affected by it or vice versa there was a lot going on besides main charackters, right? As I understood the topic of the video should be: How present a brand new shiny built world

The first novel I plan to actually finish sometime soon-ish is a gritty animal fiction story called Cold Hollow The animals are intelligent and think and act like people and are slightly anthropomorphic I think the most important element of it is that of fear, survival, and a desire for security The prologue opens with society for bats breaking down with carnivorous bats attacking and presumably eating herbivorous bats, but the main story focuses more on a rat community whose leaders have subdued and effectively imprisoned bats in a cave called Cold Hollow, keeping their children as collateral It is implied that this group of bats once included carnivorous bats, but that the herbivorous bats killed the carnivores sometime ago for their own safety, so I'm intending readers to gather that the "villains" aren't acting too differently from how anyone would out of fear and ideas of self-preservation The protagonist is a bat who grew up as a secret outsider amongst the rats following their killing of his mother, almost always wearing a cloak to disguise himself, but things get complicated when a royal rat girl bat-sympathizer discovers his secret

quick question i see people always saying oh i took 2 week bro i took 2 years bri am here with like two days? how much am i supposed to add should i know what they eat? what kind of animals are there should i add what they wear? bri know what they believe i know how magic started i know what magic is and how people see it like i know kinda the kinds of people that live there and what they believe i know some places my characters go there but how much stuff should i add

Really nice video but it could be better if you didn't only use examples found online, narrated, and analyzed them You could give us a formula or hands on test on how to world build For example: build a sci fi world around a youtuber girl who talks about books and writing

I didn’t build the whole world of my book series before I started writing the first one I created the characters first, though Another thing I did was write the whole series, at least first or second drafts of each one, before trying to get the first one published - which I’m doing now After doing more and more world-building with each installment, when I went back and edited, I had the luxury of being able to retrofit things in the previous books to set up things for payoffs in the later books I love doing that :)

What I do in my little fun project is I keep irrelevant infos for myself for the sake of exploration and personal fantasy, I only remove things I consider stupid or useless or I fear can interfere with the main course of events The main plot in fact ignores an incredible amount of details, because the characters would never touch them anyways

learning how to rewrite has been huge for me as a teen writer If you can't go back and build on your scenes it makes it impossible to achieve a product you are proud of And you also don't need to know everything when you start on that first page

Thank you so much for this video! I'm currently writing a book on a fantasy world, and I had info-dumped SO much information at the start of the book The protaganist's family and her are like, a clan living in the woods because the world thinks of them as outcasts (Ofc there's more debt to it) I info-dumped all the roles of the family, why the world hated them, and aspects about the kingdoms in the world Reading it again, I'm so glad I changed it Thank you!
