I have a lot of Harley Davidson t shirts that I no longer resonate with, issue purging them is that I am sloppy and sometimes ruin a shirt with stainslol my first world problemfor me what really helps is that I am giving to a day program that serves up to 80 ladies a day, and they put out clothing for the women to takethanks, your nice demeanor and gentle personality is so invitinghugs

I want to add that I have decluttered ALL synthetic materials from clothes that lie next to my skin, still keeping my puff vests and coats Organic cotton, linen, cashmere and wool are classics and feel so good, last so long

I think we can safely say that jeans with ripped holes are def out Let's end them The style is so meaninglessbr Also I can't live without color so I like to add into the basics of jeans, dark pants and white shirts my favorite colors to wear- burgundy, pale pink, pale blue, navy and caramel Black, white and grey wardrobes are lifeless, safe and bleak to me brAnd do we all have to wear little gold chains and little gold earrings to be stylish?? What about lovely silver, pearls or colorful gemstones?

I did this several years before watching this video out of frustration about how many clothes i had that I just didn't like I got rid of everything I didn't love/wasn't comfy and now my wardrobe is slowly growing into a beautiful style for me to wear every day I maybe buy a new item every few months max and only things that I know I will love The stress of getting dressed is so diminished and I feel beautiful in my clothes every day

I have quite a bit of clothes, but I suck at getting the proportions right I love wearing dresses because it's so much easier! I had to buy some pants though because I was getting so much hate from the women at work that they changed the dress code Apparently some of my dresses were too short They hated my green undercut pixie too

My latest brainwave was not allowing any cheap fabric into the mix These were cheap shirts in my colors that I thought I would wear to the gym I’m older so I can’t wear a lot of stylish gym wear anymore I ended up wearing these cheap shirts in my daily life

The fantasy self is such an interesting idea that I never considered until now I have many clothes that I never wore, blaming the weather or the attention I’d get, but they are probably just clothes for my fantasy self I barely go out and when I do, it’s to go to the supermarket or pick up my online orders Wearing most of the clothes I think are really cool does not fit the occasion At the same time, I hate wearing the regular clothes in my country

I'm very glad you addressed color Not everyone feels or looks good in beige/white/black/navy Also, as we age, our skin tone changes and these can make us look pale and sallow Often when women go gray, suddenly the full spectrum of blues look fantastic

I like different styles of dressing depending on if I’m working on the farm, hiking or going to a more formal event or dinner out I like simple and structured like Chanel But jeans and plaid shirts with sweaters during the winter brbrSome of these tips are really good I don’t go through my clothes enough and fear throwing things out because everything is so expensive now I also lose and gain weight depending on certain things, so I like different sizes in a range of 2 sizes Sizes are different for different clothing

Haven't been able to find a thing to wear lately except for the same few items Watched this, went through my whole wardrobe today -- yikes! -- tried it all on, ditched whatever didn't fit, was uncomfortable or impractical for me What's left are things I really want to wear, they fit, look good on me and it's buildable Found a bunch of really great outfits and a few outstanding forgotten pieces Basically uncovered a pallet of coordinated colors and styles from what was already there, just buried I don't have a huge wardrobe but so much wasn't working for me, now there are four big bags bound for the thrift store, some with tags Identified a few key pieces to add -- valuable shopping information The combination of decluttering and capsule is fabulous Thank you for the great video!

A capsule wardrobe is always all the pieces that we love and wear over and over again, what upsets me is when I spend money on something I don’t cherish, I actually have a “ rule “, if it is full price or expensive I get it in black or neutral but if it is inexpensive I might experience with something more fun! Love this so much I've always told myself I would NEVER, EVER have a capsule wardrobe I like lots of color, crop tops, bomber jackets, skinny jeans, athletic wear, graphic tees, etc Most of those annoyingly over-organized minimalist influencers try to portray clothing and wardrobes as something that needs to be incredibly boring and limited That just doesn't work for me I care a lot about fashion, and I use clothes to express myself I like have outrageous pieces that I can only wear maybe once every few months, or only twice a year It gives me variety and more ways to express myself So seeing this video is really, incredibly helpful, because it makes me realize that wardrobes and clothing can be looked at in a way of having a combination of pieces that work well together--REGARDLESS of individual style or taste (my basics would look like graphic tees and crop tops, not basic white or black tees)--and maybe some pieces that "spark joy," even if they don't fit into your everyday style (for me, that would be fancy mesh blouses, elaborate heels, or heavily printed or leather jackets)

Hm this only works if you aleady have a closet full to the brim with clothes in different styles etc Not if you just run with pure basics, simple T-Shirts and whatever Jeans were comfortable and cheap Just to get by, it has to to it's job as clothes and be comfy to wear brAnd from this point you decide, that you can do more, better That you want a style, that you want to find out what style would suit you, what looks good and feels right on you brIn such case this approach doesn't help at all :(

Very sensible I enjoy your approach You might also add an alteration option to your pile of clothes that don’t fit if you still like the style Much cheaper than finding a new one in a different shape/size brAnd there are companies starting up now who will essentially trade your good condition clothes for specific items you are looking for, for a low fee, which would be an excellent way to start rounding out a capsule For example, sending off a load of blazers that you had for a previous job and asking for a couple of fun hats, chunky cardigans and thigh high boots in return… Good for the wallet and planet and very low effort

I own very few pieces, but I still make silly purchases from time to time I've done a lot of decluttering recently The 'hell yes' method has really opened my eyes It has also taught me what fits my body type, as clothes you really love tend to also flatter your figure (otherwise they wouldn't look so good)

90 of what I own is in the Hell No category I bought a lot of stuff when I gained weight I hate it, but it's the clothing I own that sort of fits My Hell Yes mostly doesn't fit And between all my closet purges, I'm basically already at a (poorly formed) capsule wardrobe of hate Even hired a professional to help me with my closet, and that expensive hour didn't help Guess she didn't get how much I hate what I'm wearing now I don't like lose and baggy, but that's what I went out and bought when people started commenting on my weight So what do I do now? How do I start getting clothes I like when I basically need everything? brI do know my style: Elegant Solid colors Black, earth brown, forest green, and all the colors that match well Unique sleeves and collars Asymmetrical designs

As I get older, I realized it's important to get clothes with comfortable material not just the look When I declutter, it's usually the most uncomfortable, unbreathable clothes that I get rid of first regardless of how nice it look on me While clothes that I wear all the time wear out more easily, I just need to keep multiple pieces of them But since I wear them all the time, I wouldn't consider getting multiple pieces of the same clothes a waste

I find I like classic cuts with a French/ European sort of look I have a couple really basic navy cashmere sweaters that I got from a consignment shop, a tan Burberry coat, some Persol sunglasses, an old wide brimmed hat from Florence I don't like anything too intense, or logos that jump out I think my style was influenced by various shows growing upGattaca, Blade Runner, even certain outfits Will Graham wears in Hannibal I don't have a ton of clothes but they all have a similar feel Sort of timeless and neutrals but also some ambers and blues, especially indigo and navy

Here’s a huge tip: do this every season, every year & do it on laundry day - most of your ‘hell yes’ pile is already in the hamper Also whenever you buy a new BLANK move 2 BLANKS into the sell/donate pile Do this consistently & you will have a closet you ❤ I started when I was 30…I adore my closet @ 55

You can also give a second life to an item if you deside to cut it shoter (like cut the old jeens to make new shorts) or bleach the old t shirt and make a fun pattern! br- This was regarding both "maybe" and "hell no" pile
