i use the method in the ocean cuz i used the survival island seed And i cant drown cuz i use peaceful so i dont die cuz i am in survival but i found a ravine with no axilotil and when i found won i didnt have a bucket to get it so i had to pass it up soo MEH :(

How i got my axolotls:brI found an ocean filled with coral and looked within the caves looking for stone blocks as they only spawn in water that has a stone block below it and it takes a while but WORTH IT FOR DA LIL BEAN
