She is by far not cheaper than any other aircraft, in fact in its class it is one of the most expensive, parts too are very costly as is the specialised maintenance, we fitted a new prop and the time and monetary expenses were extreme Still my favourite modern aircraft by far The NGX is gorgeous but no one in their right mind would fly the NGX into the rough and unprepared strips advertised - the earlier NG and legacy models however excel at off-field operations

To be fair, you aren't exactly spoiled for choice when it comes to single-engined Turboprops I wonder if there's even a dozen types: Cessna Caravan, PC-12, Antonov AN-3, Myasishchev M-101T and the Socata TBM That's about all I can think of that would be comparable in capacity

The Epic 1000 uses a PT6 So does the Socata TBM, Cessa Caravan, Piper M500 and Kodiak 100, and probably others So, while this is a safe engine, if the PC-12 is safer than others, it can't be because of the engine

I had the privilege and honor of visiting the Pilatus factory in Stan to do an acceptance inspection on a PC-6 Porter During that visit, I was treated to a flight in a PC-12 and that is one of the most beautiful and absolutely smooth aircraft I have ever been in and I am a former P-3 Flight Engineer And, the Pilatus people are some of the most wonderful individuals I have ever worked with

When I worked at the National Air and Space/Udvar Hazy Center one of our volunteers owned a PC12 During one of our Fly-Ins he flew it in I just couldn't take my eyes off of it and the same was with alot of other people did the same It's definitely an eye catcher

It's a nice plane, if you're up front, but in the back, the top of your window is a lower than your shoulder, making you feel like your riding around in a tin can This is why I'd spend the money and get a nice king Air That way, everyone can enjoy the flight

During my 23 year skydiving career I'd jumped the Turbo Porter which was a pretty good jumpship Pilatus makes great aircraft and the -12 is no exception though the cost per unit will keep it out of the sport for the foreseeable future I'm supposing

I remember in '89 talking with a dude in my swiss military time He was an aeronautical engineer by trade and was working on a new project called "the PC-12" as he told me I'm sure nobody back in that time could guess the phenomenal sucess this aircraft was bound to have in the next 30 years or so Congrat to him and Pilatus, who always made fine aircrafts

Yet, the airlines can fly Fokker, DeHavilland, Airbus and Pilatus Even the government who forbids me from hiring a foreign yard to build my boat, buys foreign Our highways are not just for American trucks either The trucking companies are allowed to buy Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Toyota etc I despise my government, as American boats are worn out and deadly, but who can afford 8 million for a boat that grosses $400,000 annually?
