Thanks a lot for the help! Ended up snapping the battery tape on both sides right away -__- I had to heat it up and use dental floss to pry it out! Comment from : @progmetalrules11 |

What I don't get is why those huge adhesive strips are needed at all for such a tightly-fitting battery It's not like it's going to flop around inside the case Can anyone explain why it needs to be taped in so securely? I'm about to do this battery swap, and I'm thinking maybe just 2 tiny bits of double-sided tape, or two tiny squares of Velcro-- one at the top and one at the bottom, to hold it in place (will make it easier for the NEXT replacement battery) Any ideas about that? Comment from : @epf1961 |
I have an iPhone SE 1st generation, and I followed the instructions, but the inside of my phone looked much different than yours and other videos I have a black plate and next to that a silver plate After opening my phone, I don't see a battery Any idea what this is about? Comment from : @stephen8583 |
That battery capacity is fake Trust me there is no way that is a 2320mAh capacity :) Comment from : @sssdddaaa222 |

A really well done video! No music, no babbling, narrative is clearly rehearsed and delivered Thanks for posting this video Comment from : @knonemous7156 |
Excellent instructional video Thank you Comment from : @GuildHero-qe4ok |
Works! Thx! Comment from : @gbiczok |

Best idea using huge suction cup, the little kit suction cup is useless bravo !Personally I never disconnect any cable but the battery it's more awkward but I don't like removing all those other finicky cables just to change a battery Comment from : @ralger |
Is this really 2300 mah battery or just fake number from Chinese manufacturers? Comment from : @yoloturnt |

Question, is the battery actually good? I’m trying to find a good battery substitute, and I’m afraid whether the battery is genuine enough to support the iPhone Comment from : @saanyoun |

Thank you, Apple, for making wonderful products--that are virtually impossible to work on, even for an expert Comment from : @fumble_brewski5410 |
Excellent! Thanks Comment from : @jeffsevy6812 |
Followed along step by step, seemed easy enough Powered it back on, now the touch screen doesn't work Comment from : @shanealmgren-mme |
Thanks 🙏 will be replacing the battery in mine Comment from : @asan1050 |
Great video, did make a big oops by warming for too long on high heat and ended up melting the adhesive away Other than that, the video made everything go smoothly There also appears to be another little clip that goes over the touch ID ribbon but didn't take much to figure it out Comment from : @ChefBuckeye |
Thank you! I had a little silver clip on the first cable, putting it back on I didn’t know which way it went Other than that, it was easy Comment from : @glendaneaton9646 |
I just replaced my battery but I left the screen attached, much simpler and it did not make it difficult to do the remaining steps Comment from : @mpegman |
Thanks a lot for this video, it was so easy follow your instructions!!! Comment from : @flfloren1652 |
Very good video Comment from : @larrybaker3949 |
I just did this yesterday on my SE Of course the adhesive strips broke right off for me so I had to resort to some 15lb fishing line to cut through the white stuff Also, I did mine WITHOUT removing the display and the cables - not too hard if you can hold it open with one hand or as I did prop it up against my chest Another thing I didn't do was glue the replacement battery in - there is absolutely no need to as it sits snug anyway Happy to say all went well and I now have a phone that can run 2-3 days, as opposed to the old battery that couldn't stay 5 min away from a chargerbrbrThere is absolutely no argument for having manufacturers glue batteries in - these are wear items that die meaning they will need to be removed and replaced Another way to do it instead of a plastic credit card is to use a playing card with a 45 cut on the corner and run some alcohol over the edge - it will go through the glue like a hot knife through butter Comment from : @Luscious3174 |
Hugely helpful and great training! Comment from : @peteflynn3923 |
Removing the screen seems unnecessary Warming up again for the second glue strip would ease the pull Why not use one glue strip ? Comment from : @claudemontes |
I will not use this sticky tape on the replacement battery You could also use one strip rather than two I don’t think it needs this much adhesion Comment from : @claudemontes |
There are people that still use this phone ! So, thank you very much! Succeeded 😵💫 ! Comment from : @zielsblauw |
shouldnt cut that strip in two, i fokked it up ya… Comment from : @balazsszemann8331 |
So good, thank you Comment from : @PUETmusic |
Awesome video! I should have listened when you said to not bend or puncture the old battery though Comment from : @Schoppaul |
what is the "power braking the battery"? Any benefits?brThank you Comment from : @moonchulseo4266 |
The most competent and accurate tutorial of all that I have seen (more than a dozen) Many thanks! Comment from : @azonphoto4197 |
I changed the battery using your tutorial I purchased the kit, and the phone kept turning off and on I purchased another kit and I have the same issue with the battery I even changed the charging port The battery is different than the one in the video I have 2750 mAh What is wrong? Comment from : @Miha4Him |
perfect explanation, thank you! Comment from : @97100suz |
Thanks Helped me lots Comment from : @kbnguyen1113 |
Rick, you did a fantastic job in your step by step explanations on this overly complicated job of replacing a battery As a retired Human Factors Engineer I can honestly say that I think Apple did a horrible design in the battery replacement steps I wonder if very thin velcro tapes, to hold the battery in place, might have been better than the glue-tape Leave it to Apple to make it overly complicated! Comment from : @193322009 |
Really appreciate your knowledge and assistance with this task Worked out fine, thank you Comment from : @nigelgroves19 |
How long should we heat up the phone before we start pulling the tape? Thank you! Comment from : @ontologyofbeauty |
Thank you very much for the informative video Comment from : @RajithaPrabath |
I didn't expect replacing the battery to be so complicated! So glad I found your video Thank you!! Comment from : @kellyeden8595 |
Looks super hard to do, but you did a great job Rick in removing the parts, the adhesive and putting the new battery with the new adhesive strips Thanks for your videe! You clearly show and explain each step by step action in removing the parts (screws and cover plates) and how to slowly remove the hidden adhesive strips with tips to do it well Great battery replacement video!😀 Comment from : @dino17351 |
don't you have to check to see if the battery and display work?? Comment from : @CLXLucky |
thanks buddy this video helped me changed the battery in my moms SE and now she dont have to buy another phone right away Comment from : @8830wjs |

Fantastic!! I admire your obviously wealth of experience Thanks for sharing so much of it in detail I especially appreciate your numerous tips and warnings You have a terrific style of instructing! Thinking to share the method to prevent stripping those tiny screws will help a lot! I subscribed and look forward to learning much more br5 Stars! 👍 Comment from : @Dreamscthe |
If you continued applying heat it would have been easier to remove the adhesive strips It's not gonna stay warm forever haha Comment from : @danielinacar |
u are doctor house Comment from : @Dmchuman1 |
it's fake high capacity not real Comment from : @fspeshalxo69 |
Very good video thank you, however view obstructed by your hand when dealing with the top metal plate and when completing and you don’t show detail of best way to get the button cable and clip in place, as it is asymmetrical it needs to be around the correct way before pressing, clear video of this would be useful otherwise a successful job completed, now for another one! Thanks again Comment from : @pmas27 |
battery not available in india amazon link Comment from : @AdityaPratapSingh-ss8wg |
Rick, this was excellent! You were no nonsense, not goofy or silly, not trying to act like a comedian, you played no background music, and your audio levels were perfect You did an outstanding job and I appreciate it! Comment from : @adobemastr |
Thank you I couldn't have done it without you Discovering this video spurred me on to finally having the courage to change my battery Comment from : @petermjamieson |
I got the battery out hooray Comment from : @leahy8854 |
I went through a number of vids before I lucked upon yours You showed all the foibles trying to get these 1st gen phones cracked open without cracking them brI’m not embarrassed to say it took me about 15 hrs to complete the replacement Most of that time was spent getting the case to separate Thank you for an honest, unfiltered and real life DIY I would have quit the install if it weren’t for you The phone is working flawlessly Thank you so much!!! Comment from : @chrisoneill7323 |
I just replaced my battery via your vid- it worked! Also, the fact that your adhesive broke during the demo was actually a very helpful point in the vid because I pulled my adhesive at too low an angle (even though you warned against it) and the adhesive broke off So I got some floss and worked the battery out with that Excellent vid, thanks so much! I’m now calibrating the battery per your instructions Comment from : @ellenj8896 |
Not for the faint hearted because it’s very tricky especially doing it for the first time, but this video gives step by step guidance and some great tips to make it easier - thanks Ps; I might add that it best to back your phone up first because on the first attempt my phone didn’t work and I suddenly felt panic that I had lost everything Comment from : @paulwright5086 |
please, If you can answer-bri brought my iphone se in for repair it wont turn on brthey told me since it cant turn on, they cant open it to replace the battery brbrwhen you turned yours back on it looked like everything was the same as before it was turned off brbris it true? can the phone be fixed? can a new battery be put in even though the phone wont turn on its just showing the little red battery icon Comment from : @rosehower |
Is that battery even legitimate? I got my se an 1800mah (which works beautifully) and heard ones larger than a couple hundred over the original mAh rating are likely fake Just seems too good to be true Comment from : @9852323 |
if you have tweezers it’s better to roll and pull the adhesive for every centimeters you pull to not break it mid part Comment from : @AbiManyu-kq7jj |
I just bought this phone Didnt know it had a regular headphone jack until now! even more excited and will definitely be doing this battery upgrade! thanks for the vid!brbrHas anyone used a hot air gun on low setting?brbrI also read a review on amazon that said it was easier to pull the glue strips down the length of the battery Any thoughts? Comment from : @djlancer88 |
Anyone has tested this battery? Comment from : @starlingmelo9272 |
This is a great and helpful video However and unbelievably for me who happens to do every repair around the house, including appliances, I will not try doing it myself I’d rather go to the Apple store and pay them to replace it instead of chancing needing to spend hundreds on a new phone Sharing this to my grandsons, who’ll not be afraid of the challenge 🥴 Thanks… Comment from : @linato1855 |
Hi,brSome people told me that you we replace the battery by a non iPhone original it will damage the phone and will end up destroing itwhat is your opinion o this battery brand? Comment from : @filipelima9012 |
for the adhesive band, I wiggle the adhesive right and left while I'm pulling it slowly I was able to pull the two tapes without broken them I did the same tricks for my two iphones ( 5S and SE) without any problems Hope this could help Comment from : @electromega3077 |
