I know a family whose teenager was crying every day, they went to a psychiatrist who put him on medication He had been better for a few weeks But unfortunately he became like a zombie (without wanting to bite others)brbrI have learnt that in uk, an increasing part of youngsters are showing mental illness symptoms brbrStrange ! I really prefer to go to a therapy with a psychologist The psychiatrist are very much medical influenced and prescribe things right away although for certain things like anxiety isn’t really necessary and advantageous for overcoming it long term

Okay, so I have a question What is the difference, treatment wise, between a counselor/therapist and a psychologist? I am currently in the process of applying for my Masters in Psychology in the hopes of becoming a Clinical Psychologist Though I've had many academic advisors tell me that I should go the counseling route as they're the only field that provides treatment/therapy for the patient and psychologists only diagnose patients I've explained many times that I really enjoy treating patients but am also very interested in the more serious mental diagnoses, which is why I'm wanting to become a Psychologist Despite that explanation, they still tell me that I'm not fit for the Psychology program since I want to treat the patient Is this true that psychologists don't treat/provide therapy for the patient and only diagnose them? brbrI would appreciate any help! Thank you!

Never once have I met a psychiatrist who cares about therapy 😂 they give you meds and a diagnosis based on very cookie cutter assessments Coordinating with a psych happens MAYBE, and if you're big rich brDay to day, psychs and psychiatrist's barely talk, and you're diagnosed based on the vague assessment of the psychiatrist, not the hours of work the psychologist does
