It looks to me that this camera is targeting sport photography and dynamic situation As a Nikon shooter, I think they really need to improve the auto AF (eye detection) to make it at least as good as the Canon or Sony

I thought Nikon's camera release cycle was like April and August or sometime in 4th quarter At least that's what it's been for the Z bodies Either way, if they in fact releasing a Z9 soon, that would be great Let's just hope that it at least meets the performance of the R5 and A7R IV / Alpha One at least in terms of IQ/resolution and AF 8k not as big of a deal, because Nikon really needs a home run right now to keep them in the game (and to keep Pro DSLR shooters from jumping ship when they do decide to upgrade)

As a devoted Nikon user for 25 years of course I want to see them succeed but I'm taken aback by this breathless commentary on complete and utter conjecture about the rumored Z9 Anyone can heap made-up stats on a chart and say wow those are amazing, exciting stats I suppose most people would agree that the speculated feature set and a flagship DSLR-type pro body would be nice and competitive but that's still just speculation There's not a blip of evidence for any new chipset generation that would be necessary for a so substantial leap in processing capacity The Z6II has to use two Expeed 6 processors to deliver 4K60 and that isn't even a delivered feature yet

Z 9 seems an odd choice for a name, but what do I know, I think they should call it Usain! ;) And make sure it has at least 8K/30, 4K/120, 20FPS M/30FPS/E and avoid CFE type A brI not a fan of the term fanboy I just think it is a net junk way of throwing a clandestine insult and doesn't really serve any other purpose, we do tend to get caught up in brand loyalty because it is in our nature to think we made the best choice in our purchase, but that is no excuse for putting others down for their choice or prefference

The issue for Nikon is that to surpass Canon and Sony in the flagship line up is, can they match or better them in autofocus? We are getting to FPS speeds were a bump up is a diminishing return, accuracy and reliability is becoming more important That will depend to a degree on the processor and card speeds

Unfortunately, I can't see Nikon being competitive this cycle I can see it being competitive on paper, but continuing be behind in use The 46 MP sensor rumors are based around the Z7 sensor, however, this sensor would be a pretty big fail if thrown in to the modern era of high speed sensor readout They need Sony to build them a sensor, but with no partner to share the cost, it might be too much for Nikon in their current state of financial affairs Things could be so bad, they may need to wait until Sony is willing to sell their 50 MP sensor All that said, if they do go with the 46 MP Z7 sensor, they will effectively be 100 dependent the mechanical shutter, as it is not fast enough for almost any electronic shutter use (for its intended audience) Honestly, I don't know if they even have the R&D to make that shutter system reliable at 20fps The lack of development funds is a big deal brbrBut lets say they do use the older Z7 sensor, and they do somehow get the R&D done for a 20 fps shutter, they still need to make a breakthrough in AF Even the AF king (Sony) is having problems with AF improvement They just showed improvement isn't guaranteed by throwing more horsepower at it Now, don't look at that as a dig at the A1, but they just throw a ton of extra processing at it and its only marginally improved Bottom line, Nikon have their backs to the wall and not a lot of money to develop, I think people should start tempering their expectations

Canon released 90d, EOS R, EOS RP, 1dx mkiii, R6, R5, C70, C500mkii all within 2 to 3 years Sony released FX6, A7siii, A7riv, a9ii, a1 within 3 years and Nikon released Nikon Z50, Z5, Z6, Z7, Z6ii, Z7ii and Nikon d780 all within 2 years Fujifilm released X-t4, E-X4, GFX100S among others in two years If you're camera freak, you're in serious trouble How many cameras do you want to buy every year I'll still say, pick up a 700d, master it's usage and you'll be amazed that there's no much difference in image qualities apart from features

what i like about Sony and hate about Nikon and Canon is that with Sony i can take any of their cameras and match it with every Sony lens without an adapter, and i also have sooo many third party options to choose from like: tamron, sigma, 7artisans, Samyang, Zeiss and many more Nikon has a bad lens ecosystem and i wouldn't be suprised if next year Canon decided to make a new lineup of cameras with the initial K or J or M and call the new cameras K1 or J5 or something and present a brand new lens mount and give you a shitty adapter to use your rf and ef lens with i just wouldn't be surprised Sony is just the best for picking up third party lens for their cameras and i think that's huge part of the reason why Sony became so popular in the mirrorless camera world
