So, I am typically VERY skeptical about children who want to begin transitioning before the age of 18 I feel like it is such a huge, life changing decision that can have such profound consequences on the individual if not taken seriously Today’s young generation seem to think that being transgender and gender non conforming is trendy and/or the solution to their social problems because, in general, the trans community is a very accepting group of people who will usually love you for who you are and embrace you with open arms—something that, for many children, they have never experienced before and they think that it is going to be the solution to all of their problems So, they will come out as trans, rush into the process, demand that they start talking hormones, change their hair, clothing, name, etc however, before long, they will realize that the void they were trying to fill all along still hasn’t been filled and they are still the same unhappy, depressed person that they were before they transitioned—only now they really are in the wrong body brbrWith all that being said, I do believe that this beautiful little girl is the exception to the rule I can see it in her face, the way her eyes light up, her smile, she is genuinely comfortable in her own skin now and that is a truly beautiful thing I’m so happy to hear that she has such a strong support system in place brbrI believe in reincarnation and it is my personal belief that, when it comes to transgender folks, they have been used to being that other gender for the previous incarnations and now, in this incarnation, being born the opposite gender they’re used to, so they end up with that deep rooted feeling like they have been born in the wrong body Make sense? Someone should share a powerful message with this boy and let him know that gender cannot be changed any more than race but, even though he will always be a boy, there are an infinite number of ways to express himself, and that there is nothing wrong with being a feminine boy He doesn't have to pretend he's a girl in order to express his true feelings The reason he feels like a misfit is because the well-intentioned but misguided authority figures in his life have lied to him about being able to change his gender, and he believed them I just hope he learns to love and accept himself for who he is before he is convinced to subject himself to sterilizing drugs and disfiguring surgery It's unfortunate but, because all of the adults in his life are lying to him (and themselves), he's going to have to realize for himself how dangerously misguided they are Hopefully, the price he pays for their ignorance won't cost him too much
