Oh wow That was the very same motherboard I bought in my 1st RAID server build I ended up installing the Tyan mobo (Tyan S5512WGM2NR) in a 24 bay Norco case yes it only has 14 ports (6 sata and 8 SAS - LSI embedded 9211 SAS controller) I just connect it up a 28 port HP SAS expander Not a bad mobo - up to 32G ECC Comment from : Glenn C |
|
Throw a 10gb Mellanox card in there and this would be a perfect setup I would use different drives, but nice job Comment from : Kendall Huseman |

This seems like a good idea for anyone that likes watching youtube videos, but will never build this themselves or actually run this at home brbrIf you're trying to cut costs Use the external drive cages, don't run them all 24/h Don't buy a huge bulky whining old server for shit like this, you don't want it at homebrIf you're trying to setup an actual storage server, don't skimp out on enterprise drives And don't skimp out on the anti vibration There is a reason enterprise hdds are higher initial cost Because it's literally cheaper in the long run, will cause less issues, and even add functionality to ensure less data corruption Comment from : eleander |

How about SAN for virtualization storage? Comment from : eoeoeoeo |

Hello Matt I am from India and cannot afford costly laptops/computers such as Workstations I am looking for a store in USA which sells quality refurbished / used electronics could you pls help with the store names so that I can check out Thanks in Advance Comment from : Sudhir B |

Cool build My home build server is over two times the machine It has dual CPUs, 12 cores, and 24 threads 96 gigs of ram 18 hard drives with space for 12 more The major issue is not the power It costs 45 dollars a month for electricity The problem is the heat It sucks when you have to turn on the AC when it is only 50 degrees F outside On top of that, rack-mounted hardware sucks in a house I am building a new NAS/VM server It is going to be way more power efficient and small form factor Comment from : R W Transparency |

Since there are only two states of a hard drive, one that has failed and one that is waiting to fail, I would get at least one more drive as a matching drive for when state one happens Comment from : Nutek Computers |

8:33 you say "Six thirteenths bolts" the way you are saying it makes it sound like they are 6/32" in length these are actually 6-32 machine screws(pronounced six thirty two) the six meaning the diameter of the thread portion is 3/32 of an inch and the 32 means thirty two threads per inch this is coming from an electrician who uses these near daily Comment from : Zedd Pilsner |
|
If you need any help on a private server Just ask Hilary Clinton She knows a lot about servers 😆😆😆😆 Comment from : Will Smith |

Dude, you are going to regret using these Seagate drives Over the years I owned a bunch and they die in a year or two, WD drives have lasted me 15 years and longer Of course, you still got your 17 million clicks now, so you can just throw them out and buy new Like people who are not "influencers" are doing, you know regular working people Comment from : Arthur |

Great build One big caveat though I would not under any circumstances recommend shucking for the very reasons you stated and also Barracuda is a desktop drive, not ideal for 24/7, server or RAID use Instead get enterprise grade drives like Ultrastar or Exos They can be had for the same or even lower price if you're willing to get bigger capacities, and altogether much better drives for the job Comment from : BlcJck81 |
|
me getting ready to download one picture of your mom Comment from : Les jours à venir |

This would be interesting to do with all my spare HDD's lying around I have 4 2TB 35 inch drives, 1 1TB 35 inch drive, 1 1TB 25 inch drive, 2 500GB 25 inch drives, 2 256GB 25inch drives, 2 256GB SSD's, and 1 40GB SSD all stacked next to my PC right now Unfortunately I'm having difficulty finding a server for a reasonable price The ones that I bam/b finding don't have places to mount HDD's They're half the size of the one you used Comment from : Herbert Holland |
|
Wow Great build bro👊🏿 Comment from : Paul Danster |

LOLOL 1024 (power of 2 / base 2) is normal when referring to BYTES (was in the 70's) -but if you want to have profits, its 1000
brI'm not using a new WORD (tibi or megi or kili or pebibit, its just sili?) because a drive manufacturer wants to use 1000 instead of 1024 to sell their "capacity" and save ink by removing the disclaimer!brbrGreat build! very clean!!! Thanks for sharing!!!! Comment from : John Dough too |
|
