I recently found your channel I'm really glad I did I like your explaining things once, so many repeat and repeat I got it the first time! I also appreciate fast forward, you just rock! Hi Jenna This is my second try on Onions Last year I planted onion seeds directly into the garden and they just fried I live in KS zone 6 b It's March 2 nd Is it too late to start seeds indoors? I’m tired of cold and dark and snow I’m always antsy for spring here in 5b southern maine I’ve dug out all my seeds, looked up my dates and am plotting out when I need to start my seeds My biggest issue is space I have very little space indorse with enough natural light I have a collection of houseplants that need those spaces I have shelves, but no lights any suggestions? We're in Marion, Ohio and typically grow onion sets, but we don't have a lot of luck with them I'm sure part of the problem is that I don't get them out early enough Your onions look amazing, so I might try starting them indoors Can you recommend any sweet (Vidalia-ishI know we're not allowed to grow them here) onions that will grow in Ohio? I'm in 6A too, but in Rhode Island Just planted my onion seeds yesterday on Jan 18th Ditto on just about everything you said - long day obviously given my latitude, and I also prefer cells to the broadcast method, although that works ok as well I also do the trimming One thing you did not address in this video (maybe you did in the others) is sweet vs storage onions Most sweet varieties do not store all that long I like the Patterson variety for storage, although I did start some Walla Wallas this year also Comment from : Jeffs Garden Tour |
