I got my new slim PS4 for Christmas 2021 and it’s excellent I never thought I’d download a digital game, as I’m a retro gamer at heart But now I do it all the time I originally wanted it so I could play Sonic Mania and Streets Of Rage 4 and those were the first two games I got for it Now I have a big library of digital games and most of them are retro titles I love it!

We lived with these consoles for years and thought they were the pinnacle, that generation's masterpieces don't stop being so because of a calendar changebrbrGaming has largely being solved with the PS4/X1 generation from controls schemes to other minutae, they really perfected things, I'm not saying it was the best gen ever for creativity even but there is nothing wildly innovative this gen (in the sense I've never seen that before) aside from Microsoft Flight SimulatorbrbrI never thought I'd play games that looked as good as RE2 Remake or FFVII Remake I'm still wowed everyday with how good games look, the mind-blowing levels involved and I find it hard to complain about Devs ripping people offbrbrMaybe AI development of levels and missions dialogue is the next final frontierbrbrHell Breath of the Wild feels like a game sent back in time from 2030

People need to stop considering 1080p as a low resolution And stop considering stable 30fps as unplayable because these misnomers cost you a ton of money that you could easily save by just getting a PS4 for as little as £60 these days, thats literally less than the cost of a single newly released PS5 game

What I like about the pro is even if you don't use it for 4K it's still uses supersampling to upscale the games the overall performances just better compared to the regular PS4 I guarantee that Resident Evil 4 would have ran better on the pro

Is it my fast internet speeds that makes my ps4 load so fast? I see alot of people talking about load times I've never had an issue with load times on my ps4 I know its not fast as the 5 but ive never had problems with load times on mines I'm wondering is it because i have fast Internet or am i iust use to the load times idk they seem pretty quick on my game idk

For a collectionist it’s true, but for 99 of most regular gamers in places with descent internet… just use backwards compatiblebrbrThe few times I booted my PS4 was to deal with bugs that were PS5 exclusive, like some games crashing or some issues with the PSN store

We’re in an interesting space in the console world I bought a ps4 pro, slapped at 2tb SSD in to it and haven’t looked back It’s everything I need & I didn’t have to pay hundreds of dollars and wait for weeks and months to get it I’ll be gaming on it for years to come

Yeah the PS4 is still very capable, especially the pro The new consoles felt more like mid gen refreshes than truly next gen consoles to me, sure they're better but not that much better especially when compared to the PS4 Pro Even if someone wanted to jump into VR, the PSVR has gotten really cheap as well

i got a ps4 pro for 100 dollars the use market on games are cheap u can stream on it too get 30 or 60 fps on overwatch and games look nice i dont mind at all plus the ssd gives the ps4 pro way more life

As a main system, I think the launch PS4 is not a good option as there's far better options like an SSD upgraded PS4 pro or Xbox One S/X which are only slightly more expensive but offer far better performance

I've owned PS5s and sold them for PS4s twice I just keep running into the dilemma of "Why am I keeping something expensive around that is non-essential to my gaming?" I pretty much only play PS4 games on the thing, and while higher framerates and shorter load times are nice, at the end of the day it didn't really matter that much I even found that I preferred some games to run at 30fps, like Ghost of Tsushima and FFVII Remake And the PS4's physical design and interface are vastly better imo

I've been waiting to buy a ps5 since lunch, and with scalpers when it first came out, I didn't budge to their overpriced ps5's and happily continued playing my ps4 pro And now that the ps5 is readily available, I'm just gonna wait for a "ps5 pro" I've waited for this long, why not wait a couple more years for a pro version and when I eventually get one, there would be a lot mire catalog of games I could play and maybe even cheaper because the game is a couple years old

Knowing my luck, just like when I bought a PS3, just 6 months after, most games had their servers taken offline I've also got large-ish hands and hated when my thumbs banged into eachother I ended up with chunks out of my thumbs thanks to my nails 3rd party Xbox style controllers feel cheap and nasty aswell

The PS4 retail price here in South Africa is ridiculous The PS5 is R12000 (63920 dollars) the PS4 is R8000 (42613 dollars)… it’s not the pro model, regular ps4, granted you get a couple games in the bundle It’s still ridiculous the ps5 isn’t that much more expensive
