Number 4 would be work on your soil health from the beginning I wasted a lot of time thinking I could just plunk plants and seeds into my mucky Missouri clay like I did as a kid in the beautiful, loamy garden soil of my Dad’s garden of my childhood I remember later as an adult when my Dad was forced to move after a flood, and he would go back to the river valley to bring five gallon buckets of dirt to his new, hilltop clay garden, just to try to give it a jump start But even at the old house with the great dirt, he was always composting In my old age, I find the “no dig” method to be a great way to start a new garden, and build soil health

As a new gardener I kept planting the same type tomatoes that would not ripen due to the extreme heat If plants fail the first year, try a different type the next year This year I'm growing heat tolerant tomatoes Look for gardeners from your climates and see what types they plant

Thanks for your video's Jim My tip would be to start a compost tea big bucket to dilute and water your plants every week/2nd week We learn by our failures, so keep going, sometimes what doesn't work this year goes crazy next year!
