TechneNotes
Hi!! There is a new Linux native GTK open-source note-taking app called TECHNENOTES (which I am actively developing) Although there are multiple amazing note-taking apps out there, I do think that TechneNotes has some strong points, starting from the database-like interface (with pagination, ordering, filtering, all combined with a treeview structure), the safety of local data storage with optional cloud sync (users choose if and how to sync data over the cloud), multi-tabs support with full-width note view, integration of text/files/images/videos/code as in a web-page, interconnected notes, standard markdown syntax (for cross-compatibility), and - most of all - its native (Gtk) and open source nature (thus ensuring that your notes will be fully accessible in the future, with no risk of vendor lock-in)

IcyTv
2022 The Youtube algorithm suggests me (a Windows user) this video about linux note takingbrAnyways, I'm still gonna chime in: IMO Obsidian is by far the best note taking program i've used It uses Markdown as it's base, so you can get easy style-content separation and allows you to view your notes even if something happens to the App itself, just by using any text editor It also allows you to generate graphs of how your notes connect, and is easily extendable through a lot of plugins

Started using CherryTree and there is no turning back The bummer is the porting to a Mac, which is problematic being a program in Python2 This will be resolved in a future version

ChadatWork
I've used Cherrytree for years The only drawback to Cherrytree is it is deb based, and the RPM port downloaded from the web site doesn't work in Fedora Ever So you have to wait until it shows up in the repository This means almost every time you upgrade Fedora, Cherrytree doesn't work I need a note taking application like Cherrytree that is maintained better by the developers Now we are waiting on giuspen to update it because it is programmed in an old version of Python, so we can't use it in Fedora 31 Giuspen should keep up with the times by porting to snap and flatpak or make it available naively in rpm format

Bill Gross
Please take a look at Standard Notes I'll not completely sold on it, but it is up-and-coming, with native apps on Linux, Windows, and Android (Maybe Mac too, but those three are important to me) Good code support toobrbrIf you're not eliminating web-only note taking, Microsoft OneNote is also good
Comment from : Bill Gross

antiglobalista
ANY text editor can be note taking app if you use cloud service This list is redundantbrOn the other hand, if you have note app with integrated cloud that works on ALL platforms, that would be interesting info

all are good but in my case (more than 1500 note ) the most important factor is the SEARCH FEATURE yes why should i use a note taking app if the search can help me find what i am looking forbrbrTree-based vs Tag-based ? i prefer to use them both to gain more superpower through SEARCH brevernote unfortunately so popular these days -- is more geared to Tag-based search and just a little of stack of notebooksbrbr my DREAM is a web app like Firefox bookmarks - brPros : tree-based - tag-based - good search - brCons : not accessible outside FF, only URL no rich text editing, no API knowing that i do little coding sometimes
Comment from : share apps3

How about CherryTree? I am using it for some time and, in my opinion, this is an excellent note-taking program Although it is not cloud-based, but you can simply bypass this by placing your notes in dropbox, or mega cloud folder Perhaps you can make a tutorial about cherrytree some time?
