MANY problems br- such PSUs are very noisy - the waveform is terriblebr- when they fail they can destroy the loadbr- no current limitingbr- no short-circuit protectionbr- not recommended for capacitive or inductive loadsbr- very high current at 5V so a short in the load will fry everythingbr- NOT for the novice as there is a MAINS voltage subsection Comment from : Kenn Mossman |

I see the schematic for the mosfets in the video In your video it looks like you are connecting two of the legs of the P channel mosfets together Is that just an illusion, or are you really doing that? Neat build up, just an FYI, you need to remember that an ATX PSU is a switching PSU, the output is by no means clean there is a lot of noise on the output If you want to design or repair I would suggest you rather build a linear lab bench supply, there is a reason these supplies are STILL used, especially in a repair and design environment For a simple and dirty supply yes you can do this, but, I would not suggest this for repair and design Comment from : Gap Recordings Namibia |
