If you destroy your kids right to a stable family, you don't get to avoid the fallout While I think that the OP should just talk to the Mother about things and probably do so in therapy (because a therapist is a good moderator) the Mom is owed nothing If you wanted your child to not resent you try putting aside your own personal pleasure for the child's long-term success Unless the Dad was abusive (Poster may be biased or not recognize the abuse to be fair) the Mothers selfishness cost her the relationship with her child Good on OP for making her realize her actions have consequences

i think it’s a dick move personally while op is true in the fact that things won’t go back to as they were before op’s mom had an affair, it’s unfair to her for op to be so aggravated and tentative with their mom and not openly talk with her about the issues that op has with op’s mom and her new family is simply childish i believe

NTA but I think that if he wants a relationship with his mom, he should clarify that to her Like “I still want a relationship with you but because of what you’ve done, I think you can understand why I don’t want to be near your new family” I also have so many questions about “my father doesn’t want me to go to therapy “ when that would clearly help this kids that has been through so much ??? Like just him finding a way to express in a healthy way his frustration could really help because even tho he isn’t the AH, she clearly is still sad about his actions

When the mom’s husband called op an AH I would have responded back by saying “at least I’m not the one who stole another man’s wife” 1 to get him mad and maybe he might spill the beans and reveal new info and 2 to make my point clear on how I view the situation
