You weren't even through half your hair with the rake and shake method before I said (out loud), "No way! Life is too short!" I've always known I had wavy hair but I hate doing my hair, so I usually wash and condition my hair, let it air dry, and leave it be Sometimes I brush it out I don't love it but it's fine Recently, I've been watching videos to see if I can find a way hair routine that takes 10 minutes or less to do Just tried the swing curl method with mousse and a bit of blow-drying and voila! I have nice curls! Not perfect but much nicer than usual I figure with some practice, I can get it to max 10 minutes Thanks! Comment from : @jennie9 |

Could you review blueberry bliss gel? Comment from : @melissac4720 |
You don’t scrunch with rake and shake Watch any Ouidad video Comment from : @dcher3868 |
How would you advise hair cuts for your hair? I have similar (slightly longer) to yours- as far as length Right now mine is cut all one length - because used to wear it flat ironed daily Comment from : @fosterfurbabies |

Swing Curl Clump for the win! 👍 Comment from : @pweber806 |
What would be better for super long (almost to belly button), super thick, coarse wavy hair? I've tried SCC but it doesn't swing too well b/c it's too thick and rake and shake looks like it would take me too long since I have so much hair Comment from : @amydenney9295 |
Swing method certainly works better for you, but for me rake and shake is a must because my hair absolutely hates upside down styling I've tried many different methods, your swing technique included, but it just doesn't work for me that well Comment from : @mikica262 |
I think both methods look nice but I think I like the Swing Curl Clump results better There was beautiful volume while still having definition Comment from : @mandyratliff6285 |
It looks beautiful I am going to try this amazing method for my bum length hairbrYou always make me laugh 😂😆 Comment from : @staceyshaffer2892 |

I have gotten wavy hair in my fourties’ 🤷♀️brAnd I decided to embrace it but nothing worked for my very long och bleached hair Cut of 2,5 decimetres and my god it was like being born again I did not even realise how down my “new” hair had gotten me till i felt the joy of loving my hair again brNow i love it so much and my confidence has skyrocketed My hair is now just touching my shoulders and it’s so voluminous I’m having so much fun playing around with methods and products and you channel has been so helpful! brFirst age related change i have actually loved 😅 Comment from : @andreakarlsson7927 |

Praying for you and your young family I hope the surgery goes well and you have extra help during recovery Comment from : @meganb2154 |

What do you think about henna for swavy hair? Comment from : @user-gu9zi2qb3w |

Courtney,did U wash ur hair 2 days in a row? Comment from : @wendymullins30 |
Haha!! Shake and Bake Chicken 🐓 Breading!! You are exactly right that is what Rake and Shake sounds like 😂 Comment from : @Star-dj1kw |
I only tried SCC once and I believe I liked it! I would need to try it again though, simply because it's been so long since I have I never tried R&S, I think I will on my next wash day! Brush styling and scrunching only hasn't worked for me like before, I hope my hair didn't sit in the bleach for too long 😩 Anyway, I like the results for both but I think I like the R&S method on you best! You do you!brbrOn another note, please keep Courtney in your prayers! The day she posted this video she broke her nose in a horse accident and will need surgery Break a leg Courtney! 💛 Comment from : @GraceDeJong |
Surely swing method is superior it seems rake and shake took her about 10min if not longer to style brAlso the result was much better with first styling over the bath Very similar to what I've been doing a lot lately 🙂 Comment from : @juliakozak7056 |
So sorry to hear about your accident I hope you have a speedy recoverybrbrOn the hair I'm old, LOL I have extremely fine (think baby hair), very curly (3b-c), and not very much hair I have been doing a combination of the two methods since before they had names I also did hair for 16 years So, I have opinionsbrIMHO: you're starting with a bit too much water in your hair Water is heavy Give it a good squeeze before applying product, or you will be wasting a good amount of the expensive productsbrNext: this whole "plop" thing is totally alien to me If I did that, my hair would be a flat, frizzy mess Just my body heat makes my hair straighter and limp If you squeeze the excess water out of your hair, you don't really need to do thatbrbrLike I said, my opinion (But I still think "plopping" is why the front of your hair was floppy) brMuch love to you 🎉 Comment from : @karynstouffer3562 |
I like the swing message in your hair because I think the curls in the back are bigger The chunky curls are my preference Comment from : @Kerryjotx |
Both look nice Your hair seems a little flatter with the rake method? I usually end up doing a combo of this and your method, but my wavy whirlies wont tell me what styling method is best because they turn out different every time lol😂 Comment from : @tinat232 |
I’m in the early weeks of my wavy journey and I have resisted the Swing Curl method because I have severe joint problems and can’t commit to leaning over the tub for any amount of time However, I’m really glad you made this video because I think the Rake and Shake is exactly what my waves need I’ve had an issue with my waves being really uneven and either almost no definition or way too much frizz I think part of it is my hair is long But overall, I’m not using enough product and not encouraging my waves to form Thanks for your help Courtney 😊 Comment from : @EstherK06 |
I think your hair looked better with the swing method Comment from : @saramcintosh2183 |
Please pray for our friend Courtney 🙏🏼 The day this video came out, she was in a horse-riding accident & will need surgery 🥺💜 Comment from : @tecumseha |
I hope you know how beautiful you and your hair are! Comment from : @lisalt1655 |
How long do you plop for? And do you diffuse right after you're done plopping? Comment from : @mamapeach90 |
Look I'm not telling SwavyWavyCourtney how do to her job, but I don't think you're supposed to scrunch at the end of rake & shake I know this because the first time I did it, I scrunched, and it confused my hair and gave me sad results But the second time I tried it, I watched a Ouidad demonstration first and didn't scrunch, and I was so happy with how my hair turned out It elongates my waves and gives me a looser pattern that I love I hated their Advanced Climate Control gel when I used it like a normal gel, but when I rake & shake it (and, yes, I totally say Shake & Bake in my head), it's one of my favorite looks Of course, yours turned out great because you have magic hair that always turns out great, so take my words with a grain of sand Comment from : @kelliefiteturner6836 |
Great comparison! I really value your transparancy! Also, super cute make-up!! Comment from : @sylb5507 |
Thank you for making such helpful videos! Watching your YouTube channel brightens my day!😁 Comment from : @user-vx1rl4zv5o |
Swing method for the win In my opinion your hair looked way better and way more volumeous with swing Comment from : @lynnwiiliams8575 |
I like the rake & shake on your hair! You definitely got more curls in the back than usual IMO brbrI have slightly long, fine, highish porosity type 3 hair, & take& shake doesn't work well for me for the results I like My curls normally dry in ringlets & when I talk & shake it seems to work against the ringlets 🤷🏽♀️ I end up with really wavy hair but with slightly more volume, but it's just so different than my usual ringlets that I didn't like it Comment from : @VengefulAngeI |
I use Ouidad products I have hair similar to yours, and rake and shake has never worked well for me However, I was taught NOT to "scrunch" it up after the rake and shakebrbrR&S just takes too long for me to put up with I have tried your flinging, head twist thing I have polyneuropathy, including autonomic neuropathy, so head twisted as I bend over is NOT an option for me! brbrI can't find it now, but I SWEAR I saw a video for time 2-ish hair that microplopping it generally preferred over rake and stake for mor "wavy curly" hairbrbrI do think the Ouidad method of breaking the cast works much better If I try to "crunch out the crunch" my hair just gets frizzy Comment from : @CiarraiAnn |
I actually rake and shake after my gel is in For me it turns out better that waybrI brush in my leave in than add gel in sections rake and shake it I let the diffuser scrunch everything Comment from : @jackieforbes7792 |
I almost think it would depend more on hair length which method one would choose If your scalp shows a lot like me, rake and shake allows you to settle your hair a bit better to cover the thin areas Swing Curl Clump takes a lot less time though, so I am going to stick with that for now!!! 😂😂 I was wondering if you would review Aquableu's anti-thinning hair care set (shampoo and conditioner)? They do not have any styling products, but the ingredients make me really curious!!! 😊 Comment from : @littlekyle |
