Why not just find the median between both of the results on the scale? Like the same experiment, done twice, and find the median inside And you add another result per dimensional scale added? If both scales add up to the same thing, it's just unavoidable, or an absolute point I'm not a scientist here, I just love physics and have lots of questions

So basically they increased the variance of the result of the calculation to get closer to the actual result of the calculation but doesnt that also increase the standart deviation resulting in higher probability for an error in calculation?
