Just spoke to Verizon Depending on the ship Verizon may send you a text offering you wifi through them while on board I'm going to try it out next cruise (read the details!) We really like their International Pass: when you get a signal in a new country they will offer you service for $10 a day Must better than hassling with sims

I'm going to be going on my first cruise next year on Celebrity Silhouette I just got the "cruise only" rate because I'm not a drinker and I didn't realize that it was combined with the basic wifi Cue panic mode lol I went to my cell phone provider and found out that they have an international add on data package - $35 for seven days $5/day is a heck of a lot cheaper than the $20/day they want on the ship lol

First, I would like to know Why the internet pkg is so expensive! $20/day/1st device on RCCL, for speeds less than 10Mbps download! This costs twice as much as I pay for an entire month at my home with speeds over 100Mbps Second, RCCL used to have 2 internet pkgs, but since they installed Starlink they removed the cheaper pkg I feel the cruise lines are gouging us on the Internet pkg RCCL has made recent changes to some of their services that simply do not benefit their customers

My family and I just cruised on the Sky Princess to the Norwegian Fjords August 9 2023 The WIFI was blazing fast throughout the trip We could stream UHD video from YouTube the whole voyage The Star Link internet made a huge difference What a pleasant surprise This was our third Princess cruise and the internet on the previous two was very slow Alaska and Eastern Caribbean I hope this continues to be the case on future Princess cruises

We recently took a cruise to Alaska, and were charged roaming fees for using cell (in Port in Juneau, Sitka, and Ketichikan) When we called AT &T they said roaming applied because I was not OFF the ship and on LAND So even from the dock (which is technically on water) the roaming fees apply I'm assuming that this is when we would want to have the ATT at Sea?

unfortunately, I purchased a cruise though a travel agent, which a lot of people do in the UK The cruise is a Tui cruise Tui claim they have no records of me When I went to the Travel Agent, she advised it is because of "data protection" - so there is very little I can do, to book anything prior to the cruise I feel robbed of this chance, its as if the cruise company have all your money and can't be bothered answering any questions!! I have tried and all they say is, they don't recognise the booking number as it relates to the Travel Agent It is a very reputable Travel Agent, but it doesn't help my situation and of course many others in the same situation as myself We should be warned about this in advance

This was mentioned in the video but it doesn’t seem to be clearly stated by the cruise line I travel with a phone, laptop and ipad RCCL’s VOOM wifi is $20 for the 1st device plus an extra fee for each additional device This is a daily fee This was excessive so I purchased service for one device and hoped for the best When I got on board, however, I discovered that my single daily fee covered all my devices as long as I only used one at a time As the video mentioned, I was able to log off on one and sign on to another This worked fine without having to purchase service for 3 devices The daily fee is still outrageous but at least I only had to purchase 1 for the peace of mind of staying in touch with my kids at home

I did the Princess Plus fares last year I felt like it was not a good deal for me because I am not a drinker of alcohol or carbonation Now that I am Platinum I can preorder WiFi for $5 a day, so my next cruise will be standard with a pre-order of the WiFi and bottled water packages delivered to my cabin Much more cost effective for me

Right after you said to turn on airplane mode you needed to say "turn on your wifi" A way to get internet while overseas and on land if you don't have an international play is a gizmo called Roamingman

Sad, that's how I feel about the now state of connectivity on ships Cruises used to be a way to GET AWAY from all the constant texting, chatting, and basically having an appendage called a cellphone No I am not a luddite 😀I use all the technology available to modern humans when at home Yes I am semi attached to my cell phone at home Yes I do business on my cellphone at home What I object to is being near forced to use it now on ships Quick check in process at embarkation via cellphone great Making contact with family at check in times great Having to scan a barcode or QR code to read a menu, enter a venue, read the daily ship activity, enter my cabin etc, no not great Many cruise to get away from all that! So yes I will use the RCL etc app when no choice but not happy about it Every year cruising becomes more like just being at home only on a moving and possibly rocking venue People taking calls at dining room table, sitting in lounges texting away and adding to their facebook life story, yes sad is the word I use :(brbrGeorge in NY

We just returned from a 7 day western Caribbean cruise on Ruby Princess As you said in this video the wifi was slow at times Our biggest complaint about it was the connection kept dropping and we would have to log onto our account sometimes multiple times per day We did buy the wifi for up to 4 devices prior to sailing but I neglected to check what I might have saved compared to buying it on embarkation day

Since my husband still needs work access while on the cruise, we find bundling with drink packages are the best plan! Saves a lot, especially if you book your cruise during a sale that includes the bundling package!
