You right DuckStation is cool emulator It is much more comfortable than ePSXe emulator and it works even on my old 2007 PC Unlike ePSXe that had a lot of problems with emulation I just played few games, like Crash Bandicoot and Capcom vs Snk, and both works great

In Silent Hill 1 I am contanstly getting sub 20 fps in certains spots, however the other PS1 games I have tried are a solid 30 fps Is there a way to make SH1 run at a stable 30? RTX 3080, 64 gbs of ram and an 8700k cpu I can run most 2021 AAA titles over 180 frames

Oddly enough I think that 4Krendering looks closer to the CRT look that internal resolution on our current flatscreensbrPixels were always blurred so the aliasing or the pixelated effect only existed in the 70s 80s but not the 90s 2000s

Duckstation also conveniently supports CHD format Saves space over bin/cue and iso as well as keeping games on one file There are batch files that easily convert those formats to CHD

You gotta try that "Geometry Correction" mode Especially with the chunky pixels remaining, it really looks about as nice as PS1 games can look by not having all those odd warping issues

You can play PS1 with native component out on a SCPH-39001 PS2 fat too Even Tonyhax works on mine so I can play burned CDs of PS1 games over component on original hardware since the SCPH-39001 PS2 has the PS1 chip

Definitely check out the PGXP correction options in the display enhancements menu Removes all the texture and line "wobbling" you see in the tunnels, car models and wall textures of Ridge Racer Type 4, looks amazing in HD/4K

The more I mess about with PSOne emulation the more I just want to play on a CRT at the original resolution I'd appreciate the improved framerate you'd get with a solution like this over, say, a purist Mister FGPA implementation but there's something in particular about the texture wobble that needs to be there but looks bloody awful on an LCD

I love this emulator It's not going to dethrone Mednafen in regards to accuracy, but I do think it has become the go-to emulator for enhancements and low requirementsbrbrAlso, I had sworn off texture filtering many years ago, but JINC2 here is spectacular: it actually fakes details convincingly without becoming a blurry mess (on 3D games, at least)brbrAnd PGXP is awesome as well 🙂

Duckstation is great, but I really dislike the look of 3D PS1 games in HD You see all those typical PS1 problems much better in HD Of course this is not true for every single game, like you showed with Castlevania and Crash For my particular taste I found 640x480px on an handheld-emulation system to be the sweet spot without sacrificing the nostalgic look of that system It cleans up the graphics, without making it look weird or magnifying the other problems like the texture seams too much
